What color for nails?

DrEm, on February 5, 2017 at 12:16 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 20

Hello! We got engaged in December (on the 5th anniversary of our first date!) and are getting married October 15. I've been enjoying reading this discussion board these past couple of weeks!

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for nail colors for the wedding? I'm a doctor and can't have chipped polish at work so I NEVER get my nails done. I would like to get them done for the wedding, and can't decide French manicure vs solid color, or what color would look nice and not overdone.

I'm wearing a champagne dress with ivory overlay, and my ring is yellow gold (see below). Bridesmaids will be in steel blue, groomsmen in grey, and flowers will be peach and coral with greenery.

My wedding colors were red, ivory and champagne. I went with red nails.

French tips is always a classic. Or you could do a pale/pastel pink, or in your case, light peach.

My preference is always towards natural nails, so I just did a French manicure. I did the gel manicure and it lasted like 2 weeks without any chipping or peeling.

I'd do a nude or a light peach! You might want to do a gel manicure to avoid chipping. Congratulations!

I was going to suggest a gel manicure. Get it a few days before the wedding. French works but I'm not a fan of how it looks when my nails are short. I think a French looks best on slightly longer nails. For short nails I think a nice pastel pink would be pretty and natural

I prefer neutral nails - French or a soft pink/nude color. However, you are way too far out to be thinking about this haha.

Thank you all for your help!!

And yes, I know I am way too far out to be thinking about this, but I'm procrastinating writing a research proposal and thinking about the wedding is way more fun! Smiley winking

Most of the big/important details are already planned, or as much as they can be long-distance. We get to go meet with vendors etc in person in March when we'll be in Oregon for a visit, and our amazing coordinator from the venue is arranging it all. Smiley smile

You also may want to try a manicure with the SNS dipping powder, no chipping!

I agree with a pale pink neutral color. It looks nice and clean on short nails. You could go for something peachier since it goes with your colors. Look on Pinterest for wedding nails or nude nail colors to get some ideas! Personally, I'm a fan of OPI's bubble bath color if you want a specific name to look for.

If you want a neutral color, "imported bubbly" by essie is really nice

I like the idea of a solid gel polish in a light peach /pink color or champagne color .

I love neutral nails. Also just chiming in to say that your cat is adorable.

I always have gels, and I can usually go three weeks without a redo. I have a sparkly, pinky beige on now, and it looks neutral but fancy.

lots of my brides do neutrals with their ring finger being embellishes or sparkly.

Nude! I had nude/pink tint gel nails for my SILs wedding. I plan to do the same for mine.

@DrEm, as someone who also doesn't get manicures often, I've also been thinking about this. It's not too early, lol
