What Changes For Men Once They Are Married?

The Bride, on July 31, 2019 at 5:33 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8

In my Men's Engagement Rings discussion post someone commented: "nothing really changes for the guy once he's married from a social way (name is still Mr, last name doesn't usually change, etc.)." And that got me thinking...what changes for men once they are married?

What are your thoughts? Do you agree with the commenter? Why or why not?

Oh I guess that's true huh ! I don't think my husband would mind doing hyphenated last name or changing his last name for himself either though.

My husband's last name definitely didn't change but I don't know if I'd say nothing changed socially.

I have to agree with the comment, only thing changing for him is he is adding a ring to his left hand.

According to my Men's Engagement Rings post that's not a change for some men as some of them receive engagement rings these days.

Depending on the couple possibly changing his address. Your taxes and work benefits.
Some women don't change their name either so I guess a lot doesn't really change.

I think if the man is on the younger side, being married earns him greater respect, especially in the workplace. They might take him more seriously because now he’s “a family man” and no longer a “bachelor”(even if he was in a long term relationship)
This is what I’ve noticed for my FH, our coworkers are already treating him differently because he’s about to have a wife. The older ones want to talk to him more(they kind of ignored him) about the importance of family, ect.

I can agree with that. I wouldn't say that my husband is "young" but I definitely see that people respect him more now that he's married.
