What causes dress bunching?

Caitlin, on December 5, 2022 at 11:17 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

See photo- my dress is wrinkling on my hips and butt pretty badly- any idea what causes this/how to fix it? My seamstress is taking it out at he hips thinking that will allow it to slide over my hips more easily and hopefully fix it but I'm wondering if its also me not having a big enough butt to fill it out?

It almost looks too big on you. Is this how the back naturally falls or is this it bustled? What is the dress? That way people can compare it on you to the model.

It doesn't look that bad and when you're moving will probably look fine.

This is it on the model. The dress is the Emily Hart Valdez. So the back is a wide v... The bodice is totally fitted to my torso, the lace is just not sewn down at the waist and sides as she wanted to confirm the alterations first before reattaching. But the butt is the part I'm concerned about. I can't tell if its too big on the butt or if she's right in that the hips need a little more room as the dress is pretty tight against my hips in the photo above. The dress is not bustled in the photo but not spread out as in some other photos either. It seems to be less wrinkled when bustled strangely enough....

It seems that the side seams were bring the edges up too high. Maybe letting it out on the hips will take care of that issue though. You could try checking with another seamstress. Maybe someone will give you a tip what needs to be done.

I don't know much about what causes the material to do what it's doing, but that is a beautiful dress! Congratulations!!

I would trust in your seamstress. Tell her you don’t want that bunching and it needs to be fixed. I’m confident she’d be able to fix it!
