What are your father/daughter dance songs??

I had a hard time with my Dad. Our music kinda meshes, but the genres we mesh with don't have a lot of choices in the 'slow dance' department or something that isn't a bit faster pace (Rock/Punk).

I had originally chosen... Cinderella - Steven Curtis Chapman, but realized a bit later on that it just wasn't me, anymore.

Then, when my Father almost passed away in February/March I chose You Are My Sunshine - Johnny Cash. It really hurt me that I might lose him and that kind of resonated with me, but I asked how he felt about Cash and it was to my dismay that he wasn't a huge fan...

So, I had my Mom do a bit of sleuthing and I actually ended up choosing Lullaby - Billy Joel. We both like him, it's sweet. It also kind of resonated with what happened earlier this year and I felt it was a perfect fit. Many people at my wedding cried and there really wasn't a dry eye with it.

When I was younger, my father and I were driving in his car and butterfly kisses played on the radio. He told me in the car that day that when I got married this was the song he wanted to dance to with me. So butterfly kisses- Bob Carlisle it is 😊

My mom texted me one day that she and my dad had just finished watching a movie and Lullaby was playing during the closing credits and he said something along the lines of "This would be a good father/daughter dance song". My mom said he had it on repeat for DAYS afterwards and still listens to it often. I'm a huge Billy Joel fan myself so it's perfect for us.

I hope he loves it, my Father cried when it started up. So, I knew that I chose wisely, haha. It was hard to get to the decision to use it, though. At least your dad unknowingly made it super easy.

Still trying to decide, but thinking it will be Somewhere Over the Rainbow/What a Wonderful World by IZ. I also considered My Girl by The Temptations.

You can do a more serious, emotional song, or a fun one! Either way it'll be a dance to remember and one you're glad you did. You can always try to mash 2 different songs together to suit both your personalities too! I considered Tim McGraw Humble and Kind or John Mayer Daughters. here's a list that might help you out though!
