What are your and your guests’ favorite cocktails?

Michelle, on March 2, 2022 at 1:17 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 3 21
Will you be serving them at the reception as part of a full bar or skipping liquor?

I like light liquor preferable tequila pineapple or orange juice and FH like dark (loves a French connection mostly) so we will be having those option for our trip but since we are going bar hopping our guests will be able to choose what they like.

Personally I enjoy a Cosmo or glass of wine. My other half likes wine and beer more. As for family/friends the number on thing they have asked if we will have is a hard seltzer. So perhaps building a cocktail around that.

My fiancé and I made the decision to not have alcohol at our wedding, but we will be having a small toast privately before the reception with each other just to calm nerves. But hopefully that’s not wrong to do we just wanted to have one special moment. Unfortunately, it’s a big secret it wasn’t at first until my mom said absolutely not. But it’s for us and it’s tradition to us and something special.

As fun as a signature drink would be for my fiancé and I, I'm not sure many other people would be interested enough to make it worth it. So we're only going to provide varying kinds of beer and wine. Otherwise, we'd probably go with an amaretto sour 😋😋

Our favorite cocktails are Gin & Tonic and White Russians. My family is also a huge fan of Dark & Stormies. We had a full bar of liquor available in addition to a small selection of wine and beer. Our non-alcoholic drinks were coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and fruit punch (orange, mango, ginger, and cranberry). The guests were able to request that the bartender spike the non-alcoholic drinks with a liquor of their choice, which seemed to be the most popular option.

We are just doing beer (regular and non-alcoholic) wine and soft drinks. I would love to have one signature cocktail & mocktail, but need to wait to see how that would affect the budget. Right now, with the wedding being 14 months away (430 days, if you must know LOL) the venue really doesn't want to 'talk' to me. Smiley tongue (I'm okay with that, I have a really long list for when the ARE ready)

My go to drink is a Jack Daniels and Diet Coke. FH is a gin and tonic. We are only having beer, wine, and a margarita machine at our wedding though due to liquor license regulations for the venue.

Our friend group has a specific drink that we discovered in New Orleans together, and would always enjoy during our weekly “family dinners”. Since we are going to New Orleans for our destination wedding, we are making that drink our “signature drink”. We will definitely have a full, top shelf open bar in addition to the signature drink as well though.

I have people in recovery coming to my wedding and also some of our family members are not responsible when it comes to drinking and I don’t need that on my subconscious, so instead we came up with old fashion drinks such as Shirley temples and Roy rogers to make as well as iced tea and lemonade which we changed those names to something different to make it more fun. Also, some of our family are Christian’s too and I’m rather be respectful to make everyone feel comfortable. I just hope I’m not in the wrong for wanting that moment with my husband

Mandi you have every right to have your private alcoholic toast! Your both over 21 (I hope LOL) and starting a life together .... which means not needing mom & dad's approval now. Smiley winking

As for your dry wedding, good for you for avoiding the drama. Here is a link to some really fun mocktails if you're interested. https://www.townandcountrymag.com/leisure/drinks/how-to/g785/best-mocktail-recipes/

Our usual drink is a margarita, spicy margs in particular. My FH is also a big bourbon buff and an old fashioned is good go-to if he's going to enjoy bourbon. However, our venue doesn't have a liquor license and only serves beer and wine. When we first found this out we were really bummed, but were willing to sacrifice this aspect. Everyone we know drinks beer so our guests will still have a great time. My FH doesn't though, and the venue said people can bring their own liquor. We are not advertising this. My FH will bring a special bottle of bourbon for the sweetheart table for him.

We also have Friends of Bill W attending our wedding, (including my FH) so I am always on the hunt for fun mocktails that look like the real thing. Knowing personally how awkward it can be for a person to be 'just drinking soda', I wanted everyone to feel included. My FH has found some A-MAZ-ING non-alcoholic beers ... .even Sam Adams is in the game now. SO ---- long story short, our event will have GOOD choices for people of all drinking 'stages'.

Have you checked out mocktail recipes on Pinterest? There’s quite a few that are don’t look much different from the originals.

There’s no shame in just drinking sodas either if that’s what people prefer.

Although there is "no shame" in drinking sodas, some people in our circle feel awkward or ... maybe a better term is self conscious. So we will have 2 varieties of non-alcoholic beer (Heineken Zero and Sam Adams) , a sparkling juice for the toast, and if we do a signature drink there will be a n/a version.
