What am i missing?

Alma, on October 22, 2019 at 1:39 PM Posted in Planning 1 8

So, were a little over 7 months out until the big day. I think we have booked all of the major things a wedding needs but I have a feeling I am missing something. I've done all the planning myself with help from family. Please let me know if there is something missing. I will list the items we do have

- Venue

-DJ

-Photographer/Videographer

-Catering(includes bartenders and waiters)

-Officiant/Ceremony location

-Decorations

-Wedding party

-Invitations are set, waiting on January to purchase them.

TIA!

Does your venue provide tables and chairs? Does your caterer provide the plates/cutlery? If not, those are some things to look into rentals. I know you mention decorations, but possibly a florist for bouquets and boutonnieres. These are things you could also do yourself. Will your venue take care of setting up all the decorations? If not, something you could look into is a day-of-coordinator who can take care of all that set up for you. I think you are in good shape. Next step is to figure out what you want to wear!

Are you planning on having anyone come do your/your bridal party's hair and make up the day of?

Just reiterating the above - cake, florist, dress, and hair/makeup artist(s).

If you have guests coming out of town or want hotel accommodations, I'd look into hotel blocks.

Is your DJ for reception only or doing the Ceremony too?

This is what I ran into last minute as my Entertainment was reception only and my venue didn't provide anything like sound or microphones (we ended up getting a small amp and a mic and then a large amp for the stereo for wedding music). Just make sure to have sound/microphones for your ceremony, portion! Smiley smile

For your Photographer did you map out locations you're wanting to go to (if this applies to you!), to make it easy day of and what you'd be okay with skipping if it comes down to time constraints? I found it less stressful to plan out what I wanted to do (what was most important to least) and have a map (I traveled to a few things).

    Flowers/Buttonholes

    Wedding Party Attire

    Groom/Bride Attire

    Cake/Dessert (who is cutting it)

    Champagne Toast???

Who is setting up decorations & do you have to tear down or does venue have leeway (my venue told me I could come back next day or never pick up my decorations, if I really wanted).

Renting Tables/Chairs for Ceremony / Reception

I cannot stress this one enough - GET COMFORTABLE SHOES THAT WORK WITH YOUR WEDDING DRESS LENGTH. My dress was so fluffy I didn't have enough time to find comfortable shoes (because it was last minute I thought of it) that I wouldn't stumble over my dress in and I regretted it. Came home with super bruised feet and I was practically crying when I took them off and worried about my Honeymoon because I was doing a lot of walking at Disney/Universal.

I'm sure there's more but all the small things added up when I forgot about them! Good thing you're preparing.

Transportation. How will you, your FH, bridal party, and parents get to the ceremony, reception and then back home/hotel? We hired a party bus for our bridal party, cars for our parents, and a antique Rolls for us. We gave the bridal party Uber gift cards to get home after the reception because we didn't want anyone driving. It worked out really well.

Also Tux rentals for the Groom and groomsmen. Never too early to shop and get a profile together at the shop you choose. We went with Mens Wearhouse and once we had a profile together for our wedding the groomsmen and ring bearer could go get measured at any time.
