What all can you skip? What did you skip?

So, I've been thinking of where I should spend my money on for the wedding...My venue is Ceviche's Tapas bar in Orlando. It's already breathtaking, so my centerpieces are going to be simple, which saves a lot of money. Just wine bottles with simple flowers in them (Like a rose and some babies breath, and they will probably be fake) with tea candles all around. In general, I don't plan to do much florals. I love the idea of sola flowers, dried flowers, or silk flowers and I'd only need bouquets for me and the girls (4+me) and boutonnieres for the dudes (4+him). They are a lot cheaper than regular flowers which I love! I also plan to do e-vites, and I am considering not doing favors. So what things are usually "optional" and what did you skip on? Guest book? Fancy invites? Let me know! Thank you Smiley smile

    Let's see...

We skipped flowers completely. (Instead I carried a black clutch with silver studs)

Our photographer was only around for 1st looks, the ceremony and part of the cocktail hour.

We skipped a venue. We had the ceremony and cocktail at home and then went to a restaurant for dinner.

We skipped STDs (everyone but one guest was local)

We skipped all the foof on the invites. They were cute and very simple, single cards that we got for practically free. It didn't make sense to pay $100 or more for invites when we only needed 7 of them.

I think it's more about what you don't skip.

We had food and booze flowing the whole night through.

We had transportation so everyone could enjoy the aforementioned booze.

We had seats for every butt.

I'm "younger" but an e-vite would be so tacky to me. I mean you can literally get 50 invites on vista print for less than $20 right now, including envelopes. It's something to put on the fridge, it's tangible. An e-vite for bridal shower, engagement party..i can see...but not a wedding invite.

I am not a fan of e-vites either. I loose emails all the time. Especially since weird things happen between accessing emails on my phone, computer, and the web. They don't all update the same even though it the same email account.

I like the hard copy so I can put it on my fridge. I think I am considered part of the "younger folks" crowd Smiley winking

    - Skip or do virtual STDs

    - Skip engagement shoot, if not included in your package

    - Skip favors

    - Small bridal party

    - Small guest list

    - Beautiful venue that requires little to no outside decoration

    - All-inclusive venues

    - Smaller photography package

    - Skip photobooth

    - Skip videography

    - Skip bouquet (most people buy an extra tossing bouquet) and garter toss

    - Skip bathroom baskets

    - Skip rehearsal and rehearsal dinner (if you do rehearsal, you must do rehearsal dinner)

    - Skip hotel packages for OOT guests

    - Shop sample sales and $99 sales at David's Bridal

See, I didn't even know bathroom baskets were even a thing! I am clueless. Haha. Thank you all for the great advice, and I am looking at that thread now! Smiley smile

My fiance and i are making a website that we can send invites from and receive RSVP's, I'm also trying to keep cost down, My fiance is also a graphic designer so he is creating our save the date cards, which we will snail mail out for those who don't like the internet way of things, i haven't decided on favors yet or what my centre peices are going to be.

No BP here. We also chose postcard-size STDs instead of larger ones or magnets where the stamps would cost twice as much. (Heck, you can skip STDs altogether, but I have too many guests who live OOT.)
