Westchester,ny When to make the decision to postpone or not.

Future Mrs. T, on June 29, 2020 at 4:41 PM Posted in New York Planning 0 4
Hi all. My wedding is planned for 10/10/2020 in Westchester NY. My FH and I are still up in the air on whether to postpone. The guidelines haven’t been put out about how many people will be allowed and we have 65 people(including us). I’m okay with postponing I just want to know WHEN! I’m so stressed out about not knowing when to make the decision.

For an October wedding in Westchester NY, when do you think we should make the call to postpone? Also my venue is being super helpful and letting us postpone now or later with no fee so at least I don’t have to worry about that.
I also don’t know when we should postpone to! I was thinking Feb since that’ll be our 5 year dating anniversary but then theres talk of things being worse in the winter!
Any advice is appreciated!

For October, I would make a decision by mid-August. That gives you more time to see how things are going. NY is doing great right now, but things could turn, so waiting a bit longer would be helpful. Good luck!

I agree on waiting until August.

However, NY and NJ just postponed indoor dining indefinitely, so that is... concerning... for weddings.

Is it possible for you to explore postponement ideas now, so you have them in your back pocket? I sometimes find that having research/information can really help me calm down and wait to make decisions.

The above is untrue- NY did not postpone indoor dining indefinitely. cuomo said hes thinking about tweaking the indoor dining reopening for nyc specifically. westchester is already in the indoor dining phase. u have until mid august to make the call. im in september and my venue is on a committee that is pushing for guidance for caterers and that information should be forthcoming. many venues in westchester are already doing mini weddings 25-50 people. if u guest list is that small youre in good shape, might have to just cut a few people. one of the reasons im choosing not to postpone is because im not so sure things are going to be any better next year and im nog postponing 2 years in a row

Yep, indoor dining for NY is open for every region right now that is in phase 3, except NYC. He's due to make that decision tomorrow, like the previous said- specifically for NYC. NJ and NY are not doing the same things so just be mindful and pay close attention to what Cuomo is doing when it comes to NY. Also, I have a meeting with my venue next week to discuss our options as my wedding is Aug 30th and we need to make a decision by mid July. Our families are already pushing to know if they need vacation time, hotels, or when to book flights.... If I were you, mid-late Aug would be my latest to decide...best of luck to you!
