The contract lingo is a bit unclear, and I guess before she calls she wants to figure out what the loss will be... It's a rough time for her so just trying to be a helpful friend.

So sorry to hear this. It has been a stressful year for many couples. I have had more cancellations this year than in any of my other 19 years as an officiant.

With 2 weeks till the date, there is no way they are going to be able to re-book the room. So my guess is that the venues contract will be protecting them for the loss of revenue in a room they could have otherwise booked. But is any of what they paid applicable to another event... this would be my question.

I'm sorry to hear about this cancellation but Westbury Manor is very popular especially for this time of year. Have your friend beg if she has to but, I doubt she'll get anything back. Was there a death in the family?
