Well.. Jacked up my engagement ring

Breanna, on February 28, 2015 at 11:30 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

Doing laundry.. It was a gorgeous princess cut surrounded by smaller diamonds. The corner caught on the lid of the washer and bent the setting. A smaller diamond fell out and is currently being washed with all my laundry (praying I can find it when I'm done) the setting got so bent there's only one prong holding the center diamond in. I don't know what to do. Still bawling my eyes out.

Sorry to hear. I lost mine a few weeks ago down the drain. Had to pay a plumber $300 to take the sink apart. Fortunately, she (yes she) was able to find it.

Hey wedding week twin - I am so sorry that happened to you. I definitely hope you find the diamond and it doesn't cost too much to fix.

That's so sad I'm so sorry to hear! Did you insure your ring against loss and theft? Sometimes those policies include damage too!

Is there a warranty from the jeweler?

Stop the laundry and look now! Could get sucked away in the pipes?

I was too dumb to get insurance. I dug through the washer as soon as it happened and didn't find anything. Hoping it gets caught in the filter.

I had a warranty on mine so when the stone on my solitaire ring fell out it was replaced without charge but I had to go without my ring for a few weeks. I really hope if you don't have insurance on it that you can find the stone! I found my original diamond months after my original was fixed! I am sure no matter if you find it or not things will work out. I made a big fuss when my stone fell out for no apparent reason because it all worked out. Just try to keep calm and figure it out. Worrying never helped anyone! I know it's hard to put that thought into action but it's true!

I'm trying not to stress about it, I'll figure something out somehow. It was a pretty small stone so it won't be too bad to replace if I can't find it. Just need to breathe and get over it. And I got a little drunk, which helped a lot I think..

    That sucks.

The day after I got my e-ring, one of the diamonds fell out. I guess one of the settings was loose. I was freaking out. FH on the other hand was surprisingly calm about it. All he said was "Not a big deal. It's insured". I'm glad he was calm about it because I sure wasn't. Because I couldn't find the diamond, the store replaced the ring. I'm so glad FH got it insured.

How long have you had it? Just take it back to the jeweler, they should help you.

Yikes. Hard lesson to learn. I insured my engagement ring and band literally the very moment I got home after receiving them.

The jeweler should have some warranty on the diamonds though. That shouldn't have happened

Wow, that sucks a lot. Smiley sad My jeweler has a lifetime guarantee on all of their rings. As long as I can bring even a tiny piece of the ring into the store (if it gets mangled, or I lose any stone) they will replace everything no questions asked. You don't even have to bring it in every 6 months or whatever for maintenance. One major reason why we went with them. If they have a guarantee like that, you know they take pride in the quality of their rings and diamonds.
