JayM, on June 17, 2019 at 5:45 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 28

So a good Friend of mine is getting married on Nov 2, 2019! I want to be the one to provide her welcome sign and I absolutely fell in LOVE with this one!! Its $85, not including taxes or shipping. & it's a 16"x 20" and is engraved, customized to any theme.. Is that a good price!? HELP!

That's pretty high for not that large of a sign. I wouldn't spend $85 on it, or probably any welcome sign for that matter.

I spent $12 on my template and $26 having it printed. But if you want to spend $85 as a gift, it’s a beautiful sign.

It's a beautiful sign, but a higher price than I would pay for myself. Etching/engraving definitely should cost more than printed signs. I would check with your friend first and make sure you pick something that fits her theme since it's priced so high and you can't return it!

It's beautiful and I would love to have it at my wedding but for me $85 is just too high. For us, my FH is going to attempt making one. We don't want to spend a lot on something we'll probably end up throwing away.

Hmm or what about something like this as a keepsake with their vows so they can keep it in their home?

I get what you mean. Do you think it would be worth it with the 10% off they offer right now? & That's very sweet of him! Is he crafty?

Maybe this could be your wedding gift to them as a keepsake, for me even with the 10% that's only about $9.00. You'll have to factor in shipping costs & tax which could run high if it's based on weight/size.

And he's absolutely not crafty at all but neither am I. He's just more patient than I am and when I mentioned that we need one and I was complaining about prices, he volunteered. So whatever he does, I'm going to love it!

I looked, their shipping is only $7, maybe I'll get it as a gift or considering maybe this keepsake they can have at home in memory of their wedding. It's their vows engraved on acrylic. Debating between the 2..

I wouldn't spend that much on a welcome sign because I wouldn't keep a sign saying "welcome to the wedding" after the wedding. I would consider something that the couple will want to keep and display. Maybe get a sign with their new last name (assuming they will have a shared name), or if they have a monogram. I also really love the idea of using their vows, but I think that is special if they wrote their own vows and less so (to me) if they used traditional vows. Also, it's not something you can have made in advance, but the website probably has a way you can gift that to them and they can submit their vows for the customization.

Ahh! I'm just so torn, I mean they have a bunch of cute customized things to chose from just not sure which route to go. Even considering getting one of their engagement photos engraved onto wood, because they do that too. & I know my friend is into that "rustic/vintage" look. Just hard figuring out which would be worth it more.

Those are beautiful! And $7 for shipping seems like a reasonable price. Either way I think is such a thoughtfull gift!

I ordered this sign from Etsy for $60 and it’s 24x18 and I thought that was a tad expensive. So I definitely think $85 is too expensive for an even smaller sign. The shop I ordered my sign from does custom signs too so you might be able to replicate that sign for cheaper! And they have 3 day shipping!

Just remember after that 1 day it will either be thrown away or stored in the attic for 20+years. It is beautiful but if you would like to get a gift for your friends I'd get something they will actually use...imo

No, it was from www.engravingsbycj.com they got reccomended to me by a co-worker that's used them. I haven't had the best experience with Etsy in the past so didn't really want to take that route. This company has alot of really cute stuff.

I went to TJ Maxx last night and got a rustic looking blackboard sign that is that size for $12. I'm just going to get the template on etsy and gonna spend 20-25 bucks total. I wouldn't spend $85 on a sign but if you can and it's in your budget and you love it why not?
