Welcome Bags for a Winter Wedding....Help!!!!

Brenda, on February 15, 2015 at 4:57 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 6

My fiance and I would like to give our guests who are in hotels, a welcome bag, if they decide they are staying the night. (Depending on how much they drink, most really don't have to travel more than an hour to go home). Anyway, since our wedding will be held in January, we don't know what to put in the bags. We see a lot for sunscreen, beach towels, etc., but we would like a little something special for the time of year.

Maybe a local tea or hot chocolate set?

I agree tea or hot cocoa, maybe some chapstick/lotion..oriental trading has personalized chapsticks..maybe since like some people put toiletry type items you could include those "hot hands" hand warmer pkgs or some cute mittens..

You have a looooong time to worry about welcome bags lol.

I don't see welcome bags with seasonal things in them, unless its a destination wedding. Usually they have water bottles, snacks (chips, crackers, cookies), mints or gum, advil, maybe a list of local attractions if lots of your guests are OOT. I have also seen more personal touches like a personalized door tag ("please do not disturb, we're recovering from Jim and Sally's wedding!") or foods/treats personal to the couple or area. For example, we're planning to put Old Bay seasoning and UTZ crab chips in our welcome bags since we're in MD!

Well, quite a few guests are coming in from a warmer climate, namely Puerto Rico and Florida, so I thought something a little warm might be nice. I really don't have much here that you would say is local, so it will be hard to find a local touch. We are known for our high school sports team so maybe something from there.

Maybe a ceramic mug (or a travel mug) and stuff it with different hot cocoa flavors and marshmallows. If you want something specifically for the holiday maybe include a Christmas ornament or Christams/holiday candies such as candy canes. Depending on how brisk the weather is in your area at that time of year you could include chapstick or handwarmers.

I would avoid high school related things (unless they are alumni of that high school) just because they aren't there for the high school, they are there for your wedding and high school apparel and trinkets kind of makes me think of a pep ralley or high school reunion.

January seems outside of Christmas/Hanukah related items. The hot chocolate, tea, mugs are great suggestions as well as chapstick and lotion. Yes, water and snacks are a must. You could put a scarf in them. My plan is to include a hangover kit with instructions, a multivitamin to take before bed, maybe advil, bandaids, water and mints. A local chocolate or souvenir is a nice idea. Yes, I realize....just summing up all the great ideas above. Smiley smile
