Welcome Bags - Are they really necessary?

I have had several family members asking if I planned on making wedding welcome bags for them. I know I can do basic, simple bags, but are they REALLY necessary? What is the guideline on this?

Will your hotel charge you to give them out? (some do) if you have time & money, maybe. But not necessary.

I am doing them for the kids only. That way the kids have crayons and activity bokks etc to keep them busy for a while

    They're nice but not necessary.

Nah. All my guests will be traveling but I think I'll just put a ton of information on the website.

I'm not doing that. While I have hotel blocks at a couple places, there's so many other hotels nearby that my guests could stay at. I put lots of maps and recommendations on my website, and will use the money elsewhere.

Not necessary. And logistically difficult if your guests are not arriving at the same time or staying at the same place. Put stuff to do on your wedding website.

I've been to a lot of out of town weddings and always enjoy them. I have a lot of people coming in so I wanted to do them. Reason being, the last wedding we went to out of town we were so hungry from the terribly hosted rehearsal dinner (they literally told us we could only have one slice of meat and pick one scoop of one side because they didn't have enough) that we ended up at Walgreens buying snacks on snacks out of desperation. Mind you, my wedding is like a straight eat-athon with a side of wedding, I'm having them for simply being comfortable. I got craft bags on Amazon for SUPER cheap, I got a personalized stamper made to "decorate" them, and have tons of stuff from Costco to fill them up. Fillers include: mini waters, gum, chips, cookies, fruit snacks, Cracker Jack, m&ms/peanut m&m's, granola bars, and Advil. I didn't go crazy over the top, but I got things I know would be easily munchable

We're skipping them. We have guests coming from the midwest, southern california, northwest, europe, etc. and they are staying at a crazy combination of hotels...incredibly hard to track and deliver when appropriate.

I'd never even heard of them before spending time on this forum.

They aren't necessary but they can also be cheap. Just do a lot of DIY
