If you are doing welcome bags, you should give a welcome bag to anyone staying in the hotel, be it local or out of town guests.

Welcome bags are for OOT guests. However, I find them completely unnecessary, given the items most people include. If people are going to a hot destination, they've already brought sunscreen, sunglasses and toiletries. Many hotels already provide water. I do know some people who have had small DWs and have given elaborate welcome gifts ($100) to guests because they spent a lot on travel, but the typical bags with water, chips, aspirin, etc. are a waste of money in my opinion.

We are having our hotel hand these out upon checkin. So anyone who has a room under our block will be getting a welcome bag, including our bridal party.

We gave welcome bags to everyone who stayed at the hotel with the room block, including the bridal party members and us (bride and groom). Some bridal party members stayed in the hotel and some chose not to so some got bags and some didn't. We included local snacks and water, and info cards about the wedding weekend and what to do in Baltimore.

We're giving them to anyone staying in our hotel room block, local or OOT. For us, the snacks and such were extra, but I went to Costco and loaded up on good stuff in bulk. I'm doing them mainly as a convenient and easy way to convey all necessary information to our guests. I'm putting an insert into each bag with the times that shuttles will be leaving the hotel for the ceremony, where the shuttle will do the pickup, the times that the shuttle will bring guests back to the hotel, and the time and location for our afterparty at the hotel (and to communicate that this part is a cash bar) and the time and location for the brunch the next day. It's just a super easy way to write everything out for everyone and minimize phone calls from people asking questions about those things!

I'm giving a welcome bag to anyone staying at your hotel, whether they are in the wedding, out of towners, etc. It's a fun treat for guests and it doesn't have to be expensive.

Anyone have fun suggestions for what they're putting in their bags? I'm going to be working on mine soon.

We did water bottles, chips (crab, regular, and UTZ party mix), a sweet snack (Berger cookies), tissues, and info/recipe cards. A good rule we found is: a drink, a salty snack, and a sweet snack.

I'm giving bags to everyone who stays in the hotel. I personally love getting them so it's something I wasn't to give out.

We had a destination reception and gave a welcome bag to every room. For the wedding party, we put extra liquor or special liquor in their bags.

If you're making welcome bags, they're usually for ALL the rooms your guests are in. Not just the ones who don't live nearby.

Yeah I will give everyone a welcome bag but one of bridesmaids said that she didn’t care for it and that nobody would so that’s why it made me question if I should or shouldn’t give the bridal party any but I will give them out anyway

This is our plan, but it may change closer to the date:

    Wedding Party//Guest Welcome Bags:

    2 bottles of Zephyrhills Water

    2 Navel Oranges

    1-2 pkts Advil

    1 pkt sunscreen

    Coconut/Lime/Chocolate Patties

    Mini Kind Bar

    Chocolate Candy Minis

    Breadstick minis

Itinerary for Weekend (WP will get detailed descriptions of where to be, when)

    Do Not Disturb Door Sign

Uber Events Code for a round trip ride to the reception

    Welcome Tag

    Touristy Map of area

Recommended Restaurants in the area with details (some are cash only, some have weird hours)

Depending on numbers, we may add:

    Candle?

    Mini Bottle of Scotch?

Just because she doesn’t care for it doesn’t mean that it won’t be a cute surprise for your guests. I’ve gotten gift bags and not gotten gift bags and it honestly doesn’t matter to me either way but the times I have received one I it was definitely a fun treat.

The majority of our guests dont know the area so we are just putting in a little map with our sites marked out and streets/intersections to avoid if at all possible also marked (cause there are a couple doosies...), the free travel brochures from the tourism department for sites we think the individual family will enjoy, a list of recommended restaurants for meals before the ceremony/the next day including price range and a brief menu description, a list of the key phone numbers for the day of point people in case they have a question, a cookie from a local bakery that is a must try (one per person in the family), a little activity booklet and crayons for all the kids including a local landmark scavenger hunt - all things they should see on the drives between the hotel and church and church and reception, or back to the highway when they are leaving, and most importantly a letter from us welcoming them to town for the wedding.
