Welcome bag logistics: one per person or one per couple?

frommstoprys, on August 12, 2018 at 12:52 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

Hi everyone!

I am wondering if there is an "accepted" way to do welcome bags, or some sort of etiquette. Specifically, I am thinking about wedding welcome bags for couples... what is the protocol? One bag each with all the stuff in it, or one bag per couple with two of everything in the one bag? How did you do welcome bags?

Thanks!

All the ones I have gotten have been one per couple. I'd also check with your hotel though before making them, my hotel was going to charge me $3 a bag to "deliver" ! We had not planned on doing them anyways but I was blown away by the cost. Unless it is food, I never use the welcome bag items. Most of it, i.e. water bottles, individual everything, just seems wasteful to me.

We just had our wedding in Jamaica and all our guest were appreciative of items in their bags... Motrin , sunscreen, aloe, gum, hand sanitizer and all in beach bags everyone carried their bags around the resort on the beach/pool. Big hit for us!!!

We are doing 1 bag for each person staying in the hotel. It’s pretty much food in the bag! So I hope it will go over well!!!

We did one bag per couple and everyone loved it! I highly recommend them. All of our guests kept commenting on how welcomed they felt and how thoughtful it was.

We did one welcome box per couple with 2 of most things in it. Some of the snacks we just included 1 of each. I second what the other PP said about checking with your hotel. Mine charged $4 per bag.

We’re going to use 1 per guest: coupons for local activities, mini water bottles w/ advil, light snack, itenerary (we plan to invite them to rehearsal, brunch & a group night). I agree w/ checking in w/ the hotel..ours said $3 per room, but will charge nothing to have our guests pick them up when they check in.

Our hotel charged even if guests picked up at check-in so it didn't save us any money to do this.

You could do either way...but as long as the 1 bag has enough for 2 people

We are doing 1 bag per room, it will have 2 water bottles & larger amounts of snacks to accommodate 2 people.

1 bag per room is fine. As a guest, snacks & water always appreciated! If someplace hot, a small sunscreen would be appreciated. I love local snacks & maybe a postcard—great if DW or if there are out of town guests. If you’re doing a welcome dinner, you could pass out bags then but upon hotel check-in is better for guests.

Wow, I'm surprised to hear that hotels are charging for this now! My plan is one bag per room, with more of certain things (water bottles, single-serve stuff) for rooms with more than one person. The hotel where our reception is confirmed they'd happily hand them over during check in with no charge. We had to reserve an additional room block at a nearby hotel (it's a big family...) and now I'm worried about getting a sneaky charge over there!
