Weird to have mismatched alternating flower centerpieces?

Michelle, on February 23, 2020 at 11:00 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 22
I went to my food tasting today at the venue and they decorated the room with some random centerpieces for ideas and I actually really liked the tall centerpiece they had. It looks better in person lol. Would it be weird if I had short centerpieces of burgundy, blush and white flowers in a gold cylinder vase along with some tall clear vases?
See below for example.
Short centerpiece. Colors will be in burgundy, blush and white. Weird to have mismatched alternating flower centerpieces? 1

I’m personally a fan of all centerpieces being the same but that’s just me. Do what my you like. It’s your day!

I think mismatching decor can work if there is some coherent theme, but I think you're pushing it with short gold vases and tall clear vases. It may look like you preferred the tall look, but ran out of money, and shortchanged some of the guests.

I like the mismatched centerpieces. I've been to a couple of weddings that had it and it looks fine. As long as they're cohesive and an equal number of each it'll look nice.

I think those would be a bit odd just cause they are a bit out there from each other but maybe if you had the same flowers in each of them it’d tie in better

Same flowers and same color centerpieces would prob work despite height difference as long as you go tall short tall short on the tables (rather than all on one side)

    Same vase?

I’m thinking maybe not do this because it would be different style of arrangements now. My mom and mother in law put this idea in my head I need to have something tall for a better look lol I don’t think it’ll go right with my vision.

My daughter had both short and tall centerpieces spread out in the space (I think there were 17 or 18 tables) but the arrangements themselves all matched - same flowers and scheme.

Maybe ask my current florist for a similar style to this? Ask for same flowers l/arrangement with a tall gold vase instead.

This is nice. I agree with pp. Just be sure the tall and short centerpieces are cohesive and they will be fine.

I've been to several weddings with mismatched centerpieces, and they've always looked great! I LOVE those tall centerpieces!

This is the only picture I can find of the centerpieces. This was my Matron of Honor's wedding. Her centerpieces were all around the same height but each one was different (some lanterns, some mason jars, some bird houses, some bouquets, etc). Smiley smile

Thanks. I just spoke with the florist of that tall centerpiece and she said she can put in some burgundy roses to match my lower centerpieces. I'm debating on maybe having the small centerpieces in a glass vase to match more.

I think I'm going to work with my current florist and see if she can do a tall centerpiece...it seems simple to put together. Fiance really likes them, as do I and our moms. I will probably do the following to make it cohesive:
    1.Clear cylinder vases.
    2. Hygrangea in the smaller vase (burgundy or same color).
    3. Find some white light branches instead of the blue.

I was really sold on gold vases but I think because I have gold elements (candles/signs) it'll still have that accent from my wedding scheme tied in.

That florist of the tall centerpiece photo I posted seems to only want to use white hydrangeas and only uses blue lights whereas my current one seems more willing to make the effort to personalize and is a bit cheaper...wish me luck!

I don't think mismatched is a problem, but they do need to coordinate. Try to find elements you can have in both.

Yes, I’m going to see if I can change my short centerpieces to glass cylinder to match it and include a hydrangea with the same colors (burgundy).

Do you all think it looks okay with all short centerpieces? The reason why I'm considering this is because everyone including fiance loves the tall ones mixed in. Might have to go over it with him again to help me choose lol.

Sorry to go a bit off topic here, but I see you are mentioning hydrangeas in burgundy, as far as I know, they only come in white, blue, green and pink? Maybe that's why your florist mentioned mixing in burgundy roses. I think mixing tall and short center pieces is a nice idea and keep things interesting.
