Weird clause in dj contract

Alexandra, on September 20, 2023 at 3:15 PM Posted in Planning 0 4

Has anyone encountered a clause in their DJ contract that basically states if a guest is injured due to the DJ's error or misconduct (ex: someone trips over an electric wire and injures themselves) and subsequently sues the DJ, that the bride and groom are responsible for paying all of the DJs legal fees and settlements they owe?

Never heard of this before and definitely wouldn't sign that contract. Any reputable DJ should carry liability insurance in the case of an accident.

You can ask to strike that clause. or alternative wording of some sort could be considered. The DJ should be responsible, at minimal, for maintaining standard protections from tripping.

You folks do understand that this conversation is falling under Wedding Wire, a global corporation that has obliterated the local DJ in all areas of the planet, right? the contract that Wedding Wire DJs MUST use is the one dictated by Wedding Wire. They don't want to pay anything. So they bury that clause in the fine print of THEIR contract. The DJ probably doesn't even know it's there!!
