Weight loss?

Chelsea, on July 10, 2020 at 9:03 PM Posted in Fitness and Health 0 9

I want to go wedding dress shopping this fall, but I want to get another 15 pounds off first. I'm already a fairly healthy person. Before COVID, I was going to the gym every morning before work, taking group exercise classes in the evening too.

I'm pretty petite, so losing a little bit of weight goes a long way. Just since graduating college, I've packed on a few and quarantine snacks definitely haven't helped.

Anyone on a plan that's working well for them that can share some tips?

Have you tried the 28 day fit girl challenge? I'm in my first week and I love the workout routine; it really pushes me. You could also put your own fitness program together. If you have instagram some pages to follow to help with this are @yamimufdi and @msjeanettejenkins. They both post workouts that you can do at home. And the page for the fit girl challenge is @fitgirlsguide.

Side Note: don't worry about being the "ideal" size when you go dress shopping. I just found my dress and I'm not at the size I want to be (COVID snacks got me too lol), but I got the dress to fit me at the size I am now, and since I'm back on a training program I still have time get back to where I was and the dress will just need to be taken in.

I’m a huge fan of the Beachbody programs. I’m currently working my way through Body Beast, but I’ve done Piyo and p90x3 as well as a few others. Most of the programs come with meal plans that definitely help with the results.

Hey Chelsea! I wouldn't stress too badly! If you found exercises that you loved pre-COVID, try taking those up again and maybe trying to watch your snacking a bit. I think if you just fall back into your old routine, you'll see the weight come off, and if it's not all gone by dress shopping - no worries!

I went dress shopping a little heavier than I usually am. I was studying for the MCAT all spring and my family went on vacation to Germany so I came back feeling bloated and definitely feeling a little low on my confidence. I still found my dream dress and my dress was easily altered after I lost weight. Don't put yourself through anything crazy or try to "detox" - it just isn't kind to your body and life/wedding planning is stressful enough!

Losing weight is mostly about diet (not exercise). Count calories and focus on fruits, veggies, whole grains, and lean proteins. I highly recommend cooking 90% of your meals at home.

My fiance has lost 60lbs and I have lost 20lbs. I lost most of mine after dress shopping, so don't let that stop you.

The Best And HEALTHIEST Way Is To Count Your Calories. You Don't Have To Deprive Yourself Of Any Of The Foods You Love-Just Fit Them Into Your Calorie Budget.

Ive Lost 50lbs - I Cut Out All Sugary Drinks Because Its Empty Calories. I Do Drink Coffee Every Morning And Thats It.

I Do Also Eat Out - I Just Look At Menus With Calories Listed And Choose From There.

I Did Not Focus On Exercise until AFTER I Lost The Weight, Because Like PP Said Exercise Doesnt Do Much As Far As Weight Loss Goes. Now That Im At My Goal Weight-I Am Working Out Every Other Day To Tone And Get Strong.

I Started At 1800 Calories A Day (Which Was A Lot For Me) And Worked My Way Down To ****.

Also iWas In The Middle Of My Weightloss When I Purchased My Dress, So It Is Big On Me Now But That Wont Be A Problem After Alterations Smiley smile

I guess I've cut out all the "no-brainer" things — haven't drank soda in almost 10 years and I drink black coffee too. I've been eating within my calorie range for over a year; very clean too — greek yogurt, oatmeal, lots of fish and leafy greens as well. I think I've just hit a plateau, so that's why I'm thinking of changing my exercise regime instead of my diet.

I was in great shape until I moved home from college. I lived downtown in a city, so I walked everywhere!

Definitely no detoxes! I have some gastro issues, and I did a "cleanse" a few years ago, and thought I was going to die.

My diet is pretty clean as well. I stopped drinking soda when I was in middle school and I've been a black coffee drinker since I was around 16. I'm just at a plateau and COVID is annoying!
