Weight Gain Since Ordering Dress

Emily, on November 8, 2019 at 3:27 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4
I’m going through the testing process for Cushing’s Disease but my endocrinologist is almost certain that I have it. I ordered my dress in June and I was in between sizes, deciding to go with the smaller one because I planned to lose a little weight anyway. Well, Cushing’s causes you to gain weight and I’ve put on almost 30 lbs since then. I’m devastated, I just want to feel beautiful on my wedding day and I’m scared now that I won’t.

What do I do about my dress? Do I call my bridal consultant and let her know, see if they can change the size ordered? Do I wait and have them alter it larger? I’m just mortified and hate everything right now.

I’m sorry you’re going through this right now. I would call the dress shop and let them know what you’re dealing with and find out if you are able to change the size. While you still have time to lose the weight it’s better to have it bigger than too small. Maybe you have some time before you have to make that decision but they can tell you that. Best of luck.

I am so sorry you are experiencing this!! I would call your bridal consultant and see if they can change the size you ordered. From what I have heard, it is MUCH easier to alter a dress to be smaller than to alter it to be bigger. I wish you the best of luck!

Oh, I'm so sorry! That sucks.

I would contact the bridal shop ASAP. Some of them will allow you to exchange for a different size, so that could be the best option for you.

They say it's easier to alter a dress to smaller, rather than making it bigger. I wish you good luck, with your health, and your wedding planning!

Hi Emily! I’m so sorry that you are going through this. Your health is your most important priority at the moment so be sure to do everything that you can to look after yourself and take a break when you feel like you need one.

As the previous posters have already mentioned, I would contact your bridal salon to see if there is anything that they can do about the sizing of your dress. It is much easier to make a dress small with alterations than it is to make it bigger.
