Weekend Diy...welcome Sign! (pics included)

FutureMrsKC, on July 8, 2018 at 2:55 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 23
After being on Pinterest far too long the other day, I decided to give a DIY crack at our welcome sign! We have a few acrylic signs (like “please sign our guestbook”) that we rented from the DOC, and our card box is also a clear acrylic box with “The Coleman’s ...est. 2019” on it, so I decided to keep this acrylic theme going, because I think it’s so elegant and classic!

I bought the white 18x24 frame from Michaels on sale for $11 and then the easel from Amazon for $12 (but I stained it the dark brown color, it was a lighter brown when it arrived and we had to put it together) then I printed a huge 18x24 poster that had the words on it so I could trace them (I hate my handwriting). I bought some Sharpie brand white pens and just traced the words! It dried really quickly and I was able to go over them again to make them darker and fix errors (and supposedly it washes off with water but I haven’t tried). I threw a little fake plant on top for now because we will have some real greenery on it for the big day but I’m just so happy with how it turned out! I would have spent $35-$100 on one of these from Etsy, and I made it for about $26 (easel included).

What’re you working on this weekend?

Yes I know what u mean!! Premade stuff is wayyyyyy over priced! I made our sign for our son to hold when he walks down the aisle and it says "Daddy here comes our Girl" and I made it for half the price listed on etsy!!!

    Ur sign came out great!!!

Where did you print the big poster you used to trace? I plan on doing the same thing since I have so much time before the wedding. Yours came out so lovely!

If you can, remove the apostrophe from “The Coleman’s” on your card box. The apostrophe makes it possessive and it should be plural (no apostrophe).

There is no apostrophe. My phone autocorrects.

I originally ordered the poster from Vistaprint but once it came and I framed it I thought it looked boring and plain! Vistaprint often has sales so you should be able to get one for a good price!

That looks amazing! Congrats! Smiley smile

Where did you get the frame? You said Michaels. Was it a poster frame or something specific? I do not have a lot of experience in DIY stuff, so this may be a stupid question haha.

Honestly, it was so easy! The whole tracing process took about 30-40 minutes and it dries so quickly! This was the easiest DIY! The sharpie paint pen makes life so easy!
