Weekday wedding?

Lorel, on September 11, 2019 at 12:45 PM Posted in Planning 0 17
Is anyone planning a weekday wedding?? My fiancé and I don’t have the biggest budget. Maybe $6-7,000 MAX excluding everything. We are thinking of a weekday wedding to help cut costs but I am so lost and so stressed out. We really wanted it in October but at this point I have no clue. Anyone have any tips or stories how their weekday weddings went?? We are thinking Wednesday or Thursday.

thank you!!!

We booked a Thursday night wedding in March. It literally cuts the budget by 30-50%. We've spoken to everyone on the guest list and everyone is fine with it. So far people are excited to have a "reason" to take a Friday off to recover. But we made sure that it would end by 10 so people can go to work the next day if they want.

We get married on Halloween this year. It's on a Thursday and during the venue's "off season" so we saved about 1800 bucks for thar alone!

I was thinking Thursday for that exact reason! But I already asked a few people and they were very iffy. I’m just sooo stressed out over this since we don’t have a big budget at all and I still would like a “dream” wedding.

We are paying for our wedding ourselves and don't have a large budget. I still wanted a Saturday wedding so we found a venue that offered lunch which is half the cost of dinner. Maybe you can find a venue or Caterer that will do the same. The hours for our Reception are 2-8pm with food served at 2:45.

Honestly, I told people "if you can't come that's OK, but we're limited on budget and Thursday is affordable. If you can make it, Yay! Otherwise, just let us know you can't attend. "

We had a Tuesday wedding. It was kind of an involuntary destination wedding, since our home state didn't recognize same-sex marriage at the time. And since had to get the marriage license the day before, and couldn't get married on a Saturday because it was a Jewish wedding, a weekday wedding was the only option that didn't involve spending several days in a row at our wedding area.

We invited only immediate family and a very few close friends. My children's partners were unable to attend because of work/school commitments. All the others attended.

It's going to be quieter than a weekend wedding. (No one really wants to party all night if they have to get up the next morning.) And you will likely have people not attending because they can't get off work.

If the sole purpose is to save money, can you have a weekend wedding and invite fewer people? That way, you'd be more likely to end up with the people you want there, as opposed to the people who happen to be in a position to take off from work.

We saved a ton by doing it on a Sunday. It is working out very well for us.

We’re considering doing a brunch wedding to save costs. Per person it’s about half the cost of dinner.

We're doing a weekday wedding. Well a Friday wedding but during the daytime. It's cut costs a lot because how we chose to do it we don't have to rent the space at our church or pay extra venue costs. We wanted to keep everything under 1,000 and we've done so for our 30 guests.

We're getting married on a Friday at 5pm and we saved $3800 just having it then instead of a Sat or Sun

I was in a wedding in 2017 that was on a Thursday. They had a "lower" budget of $20,000 but it was still a nice wedding. They invited around 100 people, around 70 came. People didn't stay late and there wasn't a big party/drinking atmosphere but everyone still came and it was a perfectly nice wedding. As a bridesmaid, it was kind of a pain to have to take off Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from work rather than just Friday like a normal weekend wedding but I made it work.

I honestly don't think it's a terrible idea. I once found a wedding chapel during my planning that was free for ceremony if you do a Wednesday wedding. so if you're tight on budget that'll help especially because the amount of people who can go would be more limited.

I attended a Thursday night wedding a couple years back. We enjoyed taking the Friday off. It also made sense because the bride/groom and most in attendance are on the fire department and we have unusual schedules anyways. Luckily it wasn’t until 7- I couldn’t have taken off work multiple times, and I had no interest in going to work the day after (no one that went for more than an hour went to work the next day).

We we are doing a private ceremony on a Friday then the full reception Friday night at 7:30.

Mine’s on Wednesday, as such we’ve gotten steep discounts and higher end props for the area were more willing to work with us, plus because we only had 4 months to plan a wedding our date was never taken.
Keep guests in mind. Our wedding is local and most guests don’t work weekends or have very flexible schedules so it wasn’t a problem for us.

You know what? We didn’t have much money either. No decorations at the ceremony, we had a brunch reception with streamed music, a lot of DIY - and it turned out to be my dream wedding! That’s because it was small and intimate, and we were so happy. So don’t stress about the wedding industry but focus on how to make it so special for you two and your love.
