We had a Wednesday wedding with only immediate family. I think, as with all weddings, it won't be convenient for some. As long as you are ok with a higher decline rate I think it's fine.
It also depends on your crowd. Our parents are all retired and my sister works every weekend but has Wednesdays off. It only conflicted with the work schedule of 2 people and they still came.

I think its do as you feel nowadays. Especially if you are having a smaller wedding a weekday is perfect and less expensive. People who love you will take off or do whatever is necessary to be there. Congratulations!
