Weddingmoon

Shani1137, on February 24, 2015 at 10:51 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 18

My fiance and I are planning on a September 2016 Weddingmoon. We have it narrowed down to either Hawaii or the Virgin Islands. Which island in Hawaii is best for us? Or what island, St. Lucia, etc? Help!

That will depend on budget I'm sure. HIH is the Hawaii expert, she usually gets on around this time. As for the Virgin islands, there are quite a few that are planning honeymoons there I think. I would use the Google function, or look at reviews of the venues you are considering to weigh pros and cons .

I would skip the Caribbean (except the ABC islands) since you will be in hurricane season. I haven't been to hawaii so I can't give you advice there but it seems beautiful

    WTF is a weddingmoon?

Are you talking about having a destination wedding and then staying at that same location for your honeymoon?

A Weddingmoon is a destination wedding and honeymoon in one location for just you and your fiance. Kill two birds with one stone if you will. We're leaning towards St. Lucia in November or December. Has anyone stayed at the Grande St. Lucian?

Are all-inclusive resorts important to you? Hawaii does not have them. My sister and friend has stayed at the Sandals resort on St. Lucia and they both loved it. Pricey, though. But all Sandals are pricey.

I've had friends who have done this (not in St Lucia though) and the only problem I see with it is that you have no control of when the guests come and go (and will most likely be running into them at the resort, should everyone stay at the same place). Last DW wedding we went to the bride and groom did the same thing, but people arrived at different days and stayed different lengths of times (as what happens normally with DWs is that guests turn them into vacations, no biggie).

Example: (the wedding was on a Wednesday)

-FH and I got there the Saturday before and left the Saturday after (7 days)

-MOB/FOB got there the same day we did and left Tuesday after the wedding (10 days)

-Some friends got into town the day before the wedding and left the tuesday (7 days)

-Others also came in the day before but stayed until the following Friday (10 days)

The bride and groom stayed 2 weeks and had 2 days or so to themselves before the wedding prior to guests arrival and 1 day after the wedding guests left. Sure, most people seperated and did their own thing during the trip, but you never went anywhere without passing someone you knew. chatting, talking, drinking, ect, we all tried to leave them to themselves during the honeymoon time, but even they said it was a bit odd knowing their parents weren't far away and they were technically on their honeymoon.

Not trying to discourage you, just something that you have to think of

I'm confused. Is this a regular destination wedding or an elopement? Are you inviting guests or not?

Sorry, I should of clarified! It will just be my fiancé and I. No family or friends. It's technically not eloping because we told everyone what we would be doing, so no secrets. All-inclusive is important to us.

Happy in Hawaii can correct me, but I'm pretty certain there are no all-inclusives in Hawaii because the US doesn't do resorts that are inclusive with alcoholic drinks. So check out Sandals in St. Lucia and see if that is in your price range.

Ok, I didn't realize this about Hawaii. I'm using my iPhone and it won't let me change my avatar picture. I'll do it as soon as I get home on my laptop. Thanks!

Just did a quick search and September in St. Lucia has more rain and higher temps. I've never personally traveled there, but our friend went in November 2013 and they said it was perfect weather. You might want to do some in depth reading on the weather, if that concerns you.

ETA: Why on earth was I looking at September?? I'm sorry. Your wedding is in November. You should be fine weather wise. That's what I get for starving myself (aka eating healthy food). When's my nap time?!

Weddingmoons = destination wedding, couple only.

Destination wedding = couple and guests

    For the people wondering.

Thank you SunshineJenn! I was doing some research last night, and it looks like October-December are good times to go, in terms of Weather.

Thanks Pancakes! I put November in as a guess. It all depends on where we go, and when the best time of year would be to go.
