Just Said Yes December 2020

Wedding

Hello, so I just had a question and needed some opinions. My husband and I got married in December of last year but we didn’t have a ceremony because he is in the military and we decided to do it before he left on deployment. We want to have an actual ceremony with bridesmaids and such but say it’s just a vow renewal. Is that okay? Like can we do that?

Yup! Your vow renewal can be so much like a wedding: white dress, bridesmaids, cake, the whole shebang! 💐

Of course! You can plan it just like you would a normal wedding. The only difference is that you wouldn't need an officiant to legally marry you. If your guests don't know you are already married I would be honest with them about it though.

Ooo I didn’t know we didn’t need to have an officiant to marry us. Everyone is aware that we are already married. But this advice helped so much, thank you!

Of course, you can! Do whatever you feel like having: white dress, the maids, decorations, vows, everything! It is your day, no matter if you are already married or not.

Of course and yes it will be a renewal. ARenewal can be planned just like how a wedding is and you can have it just like a actual wedding

Naw, the only thing you really need to do if you’re already married is call it a vow renewal (some couples get legally married in secret then try to pass off their vow renewal as a wedding—churches/temples generally won’t allow this when they find out and families/friends can be really hurt being lied to).

But otherwise, the sky’s the limit! You can have all the elements of a wedding (or not) and it can be as casual or formal as you like!
Welcome and can’t wait to read about your vow renewal ideas here. ❤️

I did this! Got married in December and we followed up a year later with a one year anniversary party/wedding reception. It was awesome! Highly recommend.

Definitely call it a vow renewal since that's what it is. You already had the wedding with the legalities.
