Wedding Website - password?

ThatGirl, on February 2, 2018 at 10:58 AM Posted in Planning 0 17

So I ordered my save the dates and included our website info on them... however I forgot to include the password we intended on using.... ooops!

So my question is - do I find a way to include it - drop a extra little note with the PW or something, or is a pw really necessary? I honestly don't expect a ton of people to be trolling the internet for my wedding info... so is the lock down really necessary?

Thanks for insights!

I don’t think a password is really necessary for your wedding website. I’ve found that without a password, I don’t even have half the guests looking at the website, much less strangers.

I don't think a password is necessary. I'm not using one. I've also enjoyed searching for weddings I wasn't invited to but semi-knew the people (so I wasn't offended to not be invited, but wanted to send a gift to be nice) to find their registry and buy them a gift (maybe those are the people you are trying to filter out).

We aren’t using a password. No one can TSVP if their name isn’t in the database anyways. I would just remove the password.

As long as you don't have any stalkers I think you'll be fine.

I think you should just remove the password. I don’t get why you would need one unless you’re in a situation like Katie mentioned.

Like PPs, I don't think you need the password. Not sure what site you're using, but I used WW and made my site unsearchable. That way people can only access it if you've given them the url.

Same as Rhiannon i considered making my page private but i made it unsearchable through wedding wire. I also have seen some sites where the page is open but the RSVP page is locked

I did mine through the knot and it didn’t give that option. Or at least I haven’t noticed it. I don’t the password is necessary. If you forgot to add it to save the dates I would just discontinue password bc guest might be confused and lost when it ask for password.

I did the same thing! What I'm doing is getting address labels (we have clear or white, haven't decided yet) and printing the password on them to put on the back of the STDs. That way, guests will not have to keep up with extra paper or lose it, but it is on the back so it will be hidden. Hope that helps!

We didn't do a password. I feel like half of the people we sent out STDs to didn't even realize our wedding website was on there anyways

We aren't doing a password but we made it so that our website is not searchable on google (so if you put in one or both our names nothing wedding related pops up). Only someone with a direct link can reach it, and all of our guests have the link. We used theknot.com
