Wedding Website-password Protected?

Andrea, on August 31, 2018 at 10:27 AM Posted in Planning 1 17

For those who have a wedding website, did you put a password on it for guests to enter in? If so, what was your reason for doing so? Smiley smile

We used a password because I have a nut job ex business partner who I really don't trust to know any details of my life. FH is a very private person as well. It worked out very well, we even did our RSVP's on the website Zola and had no complaints or issues.

I did not. I had a password on it while I was working on it because I didn't want people to see it under construction, lol. But once it was complete and we sent save the dates out I took the password off.

Our wedding website is our hashtag.com not our names so you can search our names and our website does not pop up in google on the first page. And if anyone finds the website that isn't invited, oh well. There isn't room for them to crash anyhow so they look awkward, not us. It's also a destination wedding for half of our list so I doubt we will have any stragglers.

I wish I would have thought of that! While I was working on it my cousin and aunt searched our names before we sent out invites or anything. Then messaged me about little things I could adjust on the website...I'm like, I'm working on it!

Yes we used a password... it has all the details of our wedding on it, we don’t want people who are uninvited to see it!

I hear that! I had a wedding website built but I was referred by another beautiful bride on this website to another website (www.withjoy.com) and I am definitely going to put a password on mine. Some people are trifiling in my life and I don't want just ANYONE accessing my wedding day details.

Ours is password protected for a few reasons. One because we know quite a few people and could potentially end up with a lot of uninvited guests (since almost all the information is on the website) - as much as we love them we can't invite everyone. Two, I unfortunately have a psycho stalker ex and despite the restraining order I wouldn't put it past him to try to show up, and three our ex MOH/ex friend. Trying for a day without a bunch of uninvited people, some loved but we don't have the room and two unwanted. It's rough.

I did. I have abusive family. I was very scared about them finding any information about me or the wedding. Everything was/and still is protected. His family understood and didn't question it.

I did not. I am not worried about uninvited people showing up and I am not going to post it on social media or anything. (I have many fb friends who have done this - its fun to look at other couples websites!)

Its hard enough for guests to remember what the website is, and I did not want to make it any harder for them to access.

Initially i'm leaving mine open for save the dates. For instance, i just limit the information available for them to see. It only says the city and time for the ceremony. I'll make the venue and address available once the invitations go out and i'll probably password protect it. I did select the option to make it not appear in the google results. However, ours isn't really to deter anyone in particular. Especially family because once the information gets to one person it will get to all. But just in case any nosy's try to see the location near the time it will be locked.

Ours doesn't, but I opted for it not to show up on Google searches and the RSVP option is limited to those I have on the list

Yeah I agree. My people so far have already had issues just remembering the website exists and what the url is in the first place.

I did not. But wedding wire let’s you put the guest names on there so there is no way someone can rsvp someone we don’t have on there or a plus one.

Password used. You can google people and find any wedding website and all the information. Not something we wanted and using a password prevents that too degree.

Yes, I had a password. I wanted to keep it private while it was under construction. I also wanted to keep it private from my ex. Also, I'm an attorney and didn't want clients or adverse parties having access to my private life.
