My fiancé and I recently started checking out wedding venues. We came into all of this preferring to have a smaller budget, limited amount of guests, sort of simple venue nothing too crazy. We felt like the actual marriage and love is what is really important, not shelling out thousands and thousands of dollars. Though we still believe that to be true, our perspectives kind of changed a bit when we toured our latest venue, which we knowww is the one. It was like once we walked in and saw how beautiful and glamourous everything was, the vibe, what they had to offer, how warm and welcoming everyone was, we actually felt like this was the place we could see ourselves getting married. We did a total 180, it was like a switch flipped. It's not crazyyy crazy over our initial budget or anything, definitely is more than we were expecting but is affordable/doable for us. It makes me wonder if I just wasn't being realistic before about budget/pricing/and what I really wanted. Did this happen to any of you? Once you actually got into the planning process/touring places/making decisions did your feelings/wants change?

“Champagne taste on a beer budget” is my new quote about my life lol. 😂😊 I like that one haha. Yeah it seems like until you really get into it and actually start planning, everyone is a little unrealistic at first. Oh no, I was talking to my Mom and Grandma yesterday about my part of the guest list and luckily they only wanted to add a few people that I agreed with. I hope it works out for you and that you can find something you love! 😊

We're in the exact same position. The place we've gotten hung up on is definitely over our initial budget, but doable financially. We've found several other venues where we could have a perfectly nice wedding for about half the cost, but neither of us are excited about any of them and feel like we'd be disappointed in the long run if we didn't choose "the one."

Yes this happened to us as well. We originally were going to do a small ceremony and dinner with immediate family only. Then we both realized that there are some close friends we would want there so now we have a guest list of about 50 of which we think 40-45 may actually come. We ended up finding the most perfect venue (because 50 is an odd number around here...most venues have a 100 guest minimum and 50 is too many for a restaurant etc.) that we seriously could not pass up! Luckily, my parents are helping with most of the wedding but we are still responsible for a portion. It all spiraled so quick!!! I dont know how we went from a “dinner only” wedding to a more “traditional” wedding. 😂 But honestly, I’m super happy we decided to go this route!

I’ve already booked the bigger things like the venue (obviously), photographer, dj, and flowers because this way we have them secured and we can make payments every month up until the wedding date. It just helps us budget better 🙂

Definitely happened to me! I pretty much knew the venue I wanted going into touring different venues, but did not know the price of it... (which was a bit of a shock). Ultimately we took the plunge for the perfect venue

It's great that you got to have an awesome wedding in the place that you really loved! Yes, I definitely agree with going with your gut. When you know, you just know. 😊 That is true, and we will def be looking into those ways to save some money lol. Thank you so much! I'm sooo happy and excited!!!

A similar thing happened to us for another venue we liked. If we ended up getting married there, it was gonna have to be on a Saturday afternoon or Sunday, because the prices really were that different! I think it's def worth changing days to have the wedding of your dreams! 😊

I agree with you 100%. Once you get out there and start touring and looking into everything, pricing gets real! Wow it's awesome you were so under budget that you could still add the lodging and be in your original budget ballpark! Hopefully we can be like you guys lol.

Yeah the prices are different and if you are on a budget it’s worth doing the cheaper of the two. I agree that you can still have a wonderful wedding. Sometimes you have to go where your budget take you and plan a wonderful day.

I had a good ballpark of pricing, I'm just cheap! The venue ended up being under budget, which is good because food is being quoted above, but thankfully for me it all is evening out. I have to say I'm definitely a sucker for little things, like the favors which add up fast and I wasn't expecting that.

I’m still very “all over the place” when it comes to planning. I really want to stick to my budget but also, don’t want to have regrets about being too cheap

We did a lot of shopping around and DIY Smiley smile Thats my best tip honestly. I looked at a lot of all inclusive packages and they were blah and still cost 15k-16k. I found a venue that was 3200 that included a lot of decorations and all my tables and chairs and what not and then I was able to shop different vendors and find the ones I loved within budget and it was great honestly. Only thing that sucks about it not being all inclusive is its a lot of coordinating with schedules and whatnot for all the vendors and set up time needed.

Yesss, this is exactlyyy us! I mean as long as it is doable financially then I don't see why not. It's a super special/important day that we're going to remember for the rest of our lives, might as well choose your dream venue that makes you happy and feel excited to have the wedding of your dreams in. I'm glad I'm not alone here. 😊 😊
