Wedding Video songs...need suggestions...including vendors!

Jessica, on November 4, 2009 at 3:31 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

Ok, so we have to come up wtih 4 songs for the wedding video. 1)Bride getting ready 2)Groom getting ready 3)leading into reception 4)a looking back over the day....We have the groom's song (Some Brian Eno song he picked out) and the looking back over the day (Making Memories of Us), and a tentative one for the reception (Celebration by Kool and the Gang, but we are open to suggestions on that one too). But we have no clue on what to do for me getting ready! They say they usually use a slower song, but I can't think of anything that I would want to listen to forever when I look back on this. Does anyone have any good ideas? Thanks!!!

I LOVE my videographer, he is amazing! He used most of the songs I just suggested and it added so much to the video. To see them in action go to www.ourweddingvideo.com and click on HD Theater to watch the videos. Mine is Lindsay's retrospective and he used The babys song for mine....SO PERFECT!

I can't get one of his videos to work at the moment. But if you can watch the one that says Courtney you should. She has the nothing fancy song, plus another one that I don't know the name of. But I think they are both beautiful choices, and a great video too.

Lots of rock'n'roll oldies come to mind as possibly suitable for the "bride getting ready" segment of your video, assuming you like any of them. Such as "Going to the Chapel" by the Dixie Cups, "Wouldn't It Be Nice (If We Were Married" by the Beach Boys, or perhaps "Wedding Song (There Is Love)" by Peter Paul & Mary or by Captain & Tennille. Another beautiful song that, IMO, fits the occasion is "In My Life" by the Beatles.

Another option for that segment is to use a song that you'll be using during the prelude music prior to your actual ceremony.

This is a cool song for a wedding day recap. I got a Feeling by the Black Eyed Peas. Here is the link www.vimeo.com/6630925 The song has differant tempos and the final part is very cool to edit to the beat.

    Congrats and have fun!

I agree with Patrick. I used that for our grand entrance and in part of our full length wedding video. But I know a lot of brides on here think the song is overplayed and everyone is doing it now. But my wedding was in mid September when the song just came out so it was great for me. And that song will therefore never get old for me.

Try "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt - some of the words might worry some people but I think the "other guy" is your hubby to be and the reason "he will never be with you" is because by the time anyone sees it you're married and off the market!

    Hello Jessica,

I have found great inspiration from viewing Rolling Stone Magazines Top 500 songs of all time on YouTube. So many of the songs to view would make for a fun, upbeat, and very original song list for your video. Think, "She Loves You, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah," from the Beatles. Or "Girl, You Really Got Me Now," by The Kinks, "My Girl," by The Temptations, "I Wanna Hold Your Hand," by The Beatles. If you have brown eyes, consider "Brown Eyed Girl," by Van Morrison.

Think about the kind of songs that are used on movie sound tracks: widely recognizable, everyone can sing along, and a bit quirky.

    Have Fun!

    Carol
