Wedding Venues and Fireworks!

Rose, on March 14, 2016 at 10:45 AM Posted in Planning 0 7

Hi everyone! I've been having some trouble finding venues that allow fireworks in the NY/NJ area other than the The Palace at Somerset. My FH is pretty adamant about these fireworks! Any suggestions from brides who had fireworks during their receptions? Thanks!

You need to check state law because I know in Michigan, it's actually illegal to use fireworks except the day before, the day of, and the day after a holiday.

I also really want them! my venue allows it but Idk if we need a permit and we'd also need to hire someone to do this, which can get pricey.

as @Lauren said, check the laws/policies in each county/town to see what is allowed and how to obtain permission. because you're planning around fourth of July weekend, you might be able to do it!

If you're looking at a venue in NJ I'm assuming you live in NJ so you know that it is illegal for an individual to purchase or set off fireworks in this state. NJ venues that allow fireworks probably have $$ permits or a licensing process. I think Perona Farms has a firework show option, but I don't know of any others. If you're looking at a date on the Fourth of July weekend, there may be fireworks shows near certain venues or they may be able to get permission to set them off more easily, so I would either look in another state or ask about your options at venues you like with or without fireworks.

Unfortunately Celia is probably right about this. this can't be cheap to achieve... Smiley sad

@Rose - We're in central PA at Linwood Estate. its 121 acres so they aren't worried about pissing off neighbors. my concerns are cost and logistics.

If you scroll WAYYYYY down, almost to the bottom there are a few shots of the 4th of July wedding that had fireworks at our venue. I'm tempted to ask the venue rep how they did this.

this is far fetched, but you can rent the entire venue for the weekend, so if you're even remotely thinking of a DW that's an option! it has 9 guest rooms

Perona does, and I think Rock Island does too. Highlawn, in West Orange is within sight of where the West Orange fireworks are done, but probably ON the 4th....
