Wedding venue

Wondering if anyone has tried to get rid of their wedding date so they could book a preferred venue and was successful at doing so ?

Do you mean change your date and cancel a contract? Or just change tour date on here?

Have you gone through the contract you signed with your current venue and/or spoken with the coordinator there?

I haven’t experienced this but I can imagine it would be very difficult to quickly find a couple that wants your exact same date and venue. I’d weigh the pros and cons of attempting to do that very carefully as you might be stuck with your booking seeing as your wedding is only 5 months away.

Read over your contract and see what it says, you may have to pay a partial or full fee.

For example mine had $1000 down, half due 1 year prior and 1/2 due 1 week prior. The payments are non refundable after the 'pay by' date.

Well if it states no refunds then you probably have to eat the cost if you really want the other venue. Possibly you could have additional travel fees if it's further from your current venue.

Yes, the only option was if we can find a replacement to take on that date

    I know but 😩… I’ll keep trying.
I see what you were saying though about the split cost. Ideally, if she can give me back $5k of the $10k , I’ll walk away

And if she refuses to give you any money back, will you stay there? I don't see why she would give you anything back if your contract states non-refundable.

I’d recommend staying. It’s not likely you’ll find a couple to take it over. Someone wanting that exact date, place, and willing to pay you back that $5,000 deposit will be extremely hard to find.

It’s similar to when I tried to find someone to take over my lease so I could go move in with my fiancé after I got engaged. No one was willing to move on my exact date, to my complex, submit a formal application to the property, and pay that amount of rent in place of me. It’s so many factors that someone else has to really really want and contractually agree to do.

I'm sure you'll still be able to create a really beautiful wedding there.
