Wedding Venue New Restrictions?

Hi,

I booked with a large chain hotel resort, and it has been a slew of challenges due to all their extensive insurance requirements and qualifications.

I had wanted to do an outdoor reception, with a tent and heaters and staging was supposed to be provided by the resort (written in my contract). This was all discussed at length prior to signing. We even rented the space the day before and after to set up and break down the tent in our contract

However, now they forced us to get a tent permit from the city, hotel doesn't know if we need an event permit, and has been inconsistent in their response

Now they are telling me, the tent needs to withstand 120 mph winds (that's a Category 3 hurricane wind for reference in Palm Desert California), will not allow heaters in the tent and saying they need an engineer to measure stage dimensions and will need to provided by another vendor that will meet their qualifications for approval.

They obviously don't want us to move forward, but why didn't they explain this prior to me placing over a 6k deposit for my tent
