Wedding Venue Discrimination

This made me sick. FH and I are an interracial couple, so this really hurt my heart. They might have apologized, but they only did so in a vain attempt to save their own skin. If anyone has a reaction they'd like to post, feel free to...

This hits me right in the feels, because I totally understand the need to fight against society to be accepted.

I started off every communication with our vendors via email that started off with the header "Welcome to the big fat gay bear wedding" to weed out those who may have an issue with our love.

(To add onto this, I also happen to be a transgender male, so my mere existence is questioned when people find out)

Love is love is love is love.

    Keep on loving y'all.

    You have my support!

Yeah it’s tough living in a community where they are so prejudice. Thankfully I live in a state where it’s entirely diverse and never experienced anything horrible like that

We have been looking for some language like this to use! My partner is a queer trans man and I'm a queer cis woman and we *look* straight so it may fool some people. I have had to ask each vendor if they're LGBTQ friendly — I haven't had trouble yet, but you can tell by how someone reacts whether they are totally comfortable or not-so-much.

Regarding the original post, it's sickening to me that hateful people feel galvanized by the words and legislation from our state and federal leaders. No one should be turned away based on how their love looks. Also, I so appreciate the accepting Christians posting on this thread!

Wow. FH and I are an interracial couple as well. This hurts my heart so bad. They need to watch the movie "Loving".

This is so upsetting.... Venues that do this should be shut down or have new management

Stuff like this just makes me so sad.. I don't understand people. I'm trying so hard to teach my child to love and accept everyone. She's young but I can already see societal judgment and outside influences weighing on her..

I’m in the north eastern part of the US, FH is Guatemalan and I’m Cambodian. I get dirty looks when I’m with him because I should “be with my own kind” it bothers me that people still discriminate.

I’ve been showing my children that no matter what, you have to love and appreciate everything. Doesn’t matter if a person is being mean YOU are the bigger person to walk away and look past the negativity. So far so good with my kids.

I can’t believe this! Is 2019 for god sake. And is even more sick that they use the religious card to cover their decisions.

Ugh yes I can believe it and it makes me sick to my stomach.

My sister and I are the product of a mixed couple (therefore I’m not sure if I can say my husband and I are mixed). I love love. I’m so sad people can be so hateful and use words that were written as a means to communicate love and acceptance to mean something so horrendous (I’m by no means a theology expert but was raised super Catholic. IMO the Bible, canonically is about love and acceptance on earth because, only She can judge us).

At least this establishment’s beliefs are being made public so people can make their choices. Then again it didn’t really work for Chic-Fil-A so idk man. Can’t we just love and accept one another?

It's definitely a tough world to raise a child in, but I think you're doing the best you can. I'm not a mother, but it sounds heartbreaking to see the world breaking your child down. Hugs Smiley heart

I wish everyone would love and be respectful of everyone, too. We need less hate, more love

Thank you. She's very empathetic and compassionate. She loves and wants to be friends with everyone. It was just a bit of an adjustment when she made friends or was around others who weren't taught the same. There have been many discussions concerning things other people say. Whether we want to admit it or not..our children are influenced by more than just us..especially as they grow older.

The world isn't as kind as it should be.
