Wedding venue dilemma

Hello and congratulations on your engagement. There's a few things you can do to determine space. 1) Ask the Church office what is the fire marshal capacity for this room, and when they have other functions, what is the common # of guests for a dining room set-up (above). 2) Ask what size are the tables and if there are other items for which you can borrow (linens, chairs, etc. A common 60" round table can seat 8 people comfortably. 10 ppl is max but tight to eat. 3) Ask the Church if there is a kitchen with stove and refrigerator available for use. 4) Then draw a paper diagram of tables, dance floor (if any), sweetheart table, and flow of how guests will line up for buffet. If you will have a seated meal, expect to hire servers and porters (for trash, clean-up). 5) Don't forget to factor in a donation to the Church. It's not really free when you use their electricity, take up time they could have otherwise rented to others, etc.
