Wedding turned into Elopement- what does this mean for gifts??

Alex, on March 24, 2020 at 10:26 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7
Long story short- we were planning an early June wedding at a school. However, with everything going on the school has shut down for the remainder of the year, cancelled their summer camps, and won’t allow us to host our wedding there now.

We don’t have the financial means to book another venue so our options are wait until 2021 summer or simply elope during our honeymoon.
We’re still planning on having a small group of family and friends to celebrate once things calm down but not sure when that will even be 🤷🏻‍♀️And we won’t be able to invite all 80 original guests to that smaller reception.
We’re planning to send out cards explaining the situation and post it on the website- should we still include our registry link on the cards???
I don’t want to be tacky at all and I’m worried it could come off that way! Please help Smiley sad

Registry shouldn’t be mentioned on any wedding invitation.

Edit to original post: I misspoke, I didn’t mean the registry link. I meant the link to our wedding website (the website has the registry along with other details on there).

Something along the lines of “to follow along our journey- you can find details here:”
Because we will post pictures there after.

I would modify the website so that it would only explain that the wedding is off for now, and that you're considering what to do next, and remove the registry link. Then when you are ready to reschedule, you can send new STDs and start a new website. You really don't want people who won't be invited after all seeing anything relating to the rescheduled wedding.

You can include the website but I'd remove the registry from the website.
