Wedding Timeline

Courtney, on June 6, 2020 at 6:57 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 11
How does this timeline sound for my wedding? It is at 5:30 in the afternoon. My FH is adamant about not doing a first look. It would make things so much easier! My DJ said he would do ceremony and reception 530 to 10:00
9- HMU arrives for girls at venue 9 to 2- HMU
2-2:30- Getting ready photos in robes/dresses on hangers photos/getting dressed in wedding dress2:30-3:15- Outside photos with bridesmaids and bridal photos 3:15 to 3:45-Groom photos getting ready 3:45 to 4:15: Groom outside photos with groomsmen and individual groom photos 4:20 to 4:25: Special photo with bride standing on balcony of her room and groom in front of it. Our friends did this same photo and it was cute! He would remain facing forward4:30 to 4:40- Groom goes inside venue and take picture with bride and groom on opposite sides of door reading letters they wrote to each other before ceremony or possibly just holding hands and praying with pastor (first touch) 4:45: Bride and groom wait for ceremony 4:45 to 5:30- Photographer gets detailed shots around venue 5:30 to 6:00- Ceremony 6:00 to 6:45- Bridal party and family photos 6:45 to 7:15- Bride and Groom Photos7:15 to 7:45- Cutting cake and dinner for bride and groom. Will have already allowed guests to eat 7:50 to 8:00- First Dance/Special Dances8:00 to 10- Dance Floor Open9:00- Sparkler Send off because photographer is paid until then unless I pay another $100 for her to stay until 10 10:00- Guests leave

I think it looks pretty good. A few thoughts I have: I don’t think you’ll need over an hour for bridal party photos/almost 3 hours for bridal party and groomsmen and individual photos. I don’t think 10 minutes for dinner will make so much of a difference that your guests can really get started before the cake cutting, which they’ll want to get up to watch. Dinner could take 45 min to an hour so they wouldn’t have much dancing time with you before sparklers.

Yeah I know... it's just the photographer says she will arrive 3 1/2 hours before ceremony to start taking pictures.... this is why I would love to do a first look! Then she said she usually does 2 hours after ceremony, but I have already paid her for an extra hour.

If you want to adjust times I would ask her. I’m sure she had a routine but you hired her.

They did that with one of our friends weddings. I mean I would see him, but only the back side. What they did with our friends was told the bride when he was standing there and she didnt step on to balcony until he was facing forward

Oh okay. I would try to do some family photos before the ceremony. Like if you wanted photos of you with your parents, grandparents and siblings. Or your fiance with his family. I would try to cut down on the time it's going to take for photos after the ceremony. 7:15 seems rather late to first be serving dinner. Also, how is the send off going to work if you have the dance floor open until 10? Because if you do the send off at 9 all of your guests are going to think it is time for them to leave so based on your timeline there out be a lot of time for your guests to dance.

If you paid for extra hour, is there a way to tac on the end instead?

I would definitely pay for additional time - this seems really rushed in some places. I also wouldn't push your dinner into 30 minutes - it's some of the only time you get just the two of you through the day.

Sounds good to me but I would do cake cutting a bit later rather than right before with dinner

My only thought is that this seems like an excessive amount of pre-ceremony photos if you aren’t even doing a first look! As a bridesmaid, I would be exhausted already by 5:30 if I had been out and about, doing HMU and tons of photo taking since 9am.
