Wedding Timeline

When I start to feel anxious or doubtful I turn to you guys and you talk me off the ledge. Lol. I'm calling on you all again.

So I talked to my venue and they helped me to pick out the times for the wedding and reception, but now I'm having second thoughts. It's a destination wedding in Vegas. Still trying to decide if we will provide transportation to the event. Mostly waiting to see how many people RSVP. Invitations are printed and ready to be sent out, so can't really make changes to that. Can change it on my wedding website, but I feel most people will look at the physical invite first and the website secondary.

Ceremony starts at 5pm and everyone has to be out of the reception by 9:30pm. Not really thinking, I put on the wedding invites 5pm start time. 😳🙄😟 I should've put 4:30pm to ensure everyone is there and seated on time. I have a few ideas:

1) If we provide transportation to the event, have everyone meet in the lobby of the hotel for transport at 4:15pm. Event location is approx 15-20 mins away.

2) If we don't provide transportation to the event, verbally tell everyone who is definitely coming that the wedding starts at 4:30pm to ensure everyone is there on time. We may have a welcome party the night before so that will be a good time to let everyone know.

3) Just keep it at 5pm and hope 🤞🏼🤞🏼everyone shows up a little early.

I pretty much think I will not want the night to end. So after our ceremony we are going to take our guest and photographer to the Vegas sign to get a few photo ops together and tour the strip listening to music, dancing in the party bus. And then if we are all still feeling up to it, find somewhere in Vegas to dance the night away!!

We printed 6 o’clock on our invitations and we also had a destination wedding. In our welcome packet and that the front Dess handed out we gave them the timeline for our day and we changed our ceremony to 530 and made sure that everyone was notified in advance. We did not have any problems with everyone showing up on time

Definitely update it on your wedding website with transportation at 4:15pm which will work just as well!

I have started making a welcome packet with an itinerary card in there. We were trying to get the packets to everyone as they arrive so they would know the details for the weekend, but we are in Vegas and people are staying all over. The place where we are staying charges like $3.50/ bag to deliver them to the person's room. 😳😳😳 How did you get that information out?

We printed the real start time on our invitations and everyone (except for maybe a few stragglers) came earlier. Most people know to get to a wedding earlier. If you tell me 5, I will be there at 4:30. If you tell me 4:30, I will aim for 4. Then what am I supposed to do for a whole hour?

If you are doing transportation just to make sure people get there on time, I wouldn't. If you are doing it as an extra courtesy for guests so they don't have to drive (especially if drinking), then that's great. I would have it on the website, spread by word of mouth, and do an announcement at the welcome party.

I wish everyone was as prompt and thinks like you do. Haha. I know some of my guest are just notoriously late and some I know will be prompt and on time.

I will definitely provide transportation back to our hotel after the wedding because they said its nearly impossible to get an uber or lyft to come off the Vegas strip. I did want to provide it as a courtesy and to make sure people are there on time especially since most guest are not familiar with the area. But at the same time more people are coming than I ever dreamed for a destination wedding.

We will see as it gets closer and determine exactly how much the transportation will be. But I think I will use multiple approaches. I've updated my wedding website. I will tell people via word of mouth. Include the time change in the welcome bags.

    Thanks so much.

Luckily for us we had everyone staying on the same hotel as us so we paid to have them handed out at the time they checked in. It was like $3.50 for them to do it to but at least I knew they had gotten it. Maybe you could save some money by handing out your bridal party bags at the rehearsal dinner.
