Wedding Timeline

Caila, on February 7, 2020 at 8:53 AM Posted in Planning 0 4

Hi all! Our invites have the time of the cocktail hour/ dinner on the back. We are struggling to decide what time to start cocktail hour....

Our wedding is at 1:30 (full catholic mass), so will be done I assume by 2:30-2:45. By the time everybody gets out of the church it should be like 3:00. The reception is 30ish minutes away from the ceremony. Do we start the cocktail hour at 4:00 or 4:30?

I don't want people to be waiting around for it to start (most will have to check into hotels if they haven't already since they're out of towners).

Sorry for the long post! Thanks in advance for comments/ advice!

I would start at 3:45. That gives a 15 minute buffer for stragglers, but also doesn't keep the earlier guests waiting around. If people are any later than that, it's not like missing 10 minutes of cocktail hour is the end of the world.

I definitely wouldn't do 430 because that seems like too much of a gap in between. So 4 should be fine, ideally.

That is what we are leaning towards. I don't think I want to go any early than that, just in case mass does go a little longer. Thank you Smiley smile

I think 3:45 would be kind of an awkward "start" time... But I do think earlier than later.
