Wedding Time Frame?

Kylee, on April 22, 2020 at 2:31 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
So the venue that we’ve fallen in love doesn’t start weddings until 7pm and they must be done by 11pm. I feel like a 4 hour wedding from ceremony to send off is kind of short. We have the option to pay an extra $1000 per hour if we want to start sooner. We’re debating on whether we should pay for 1 or 2 extra hours. Would a wedding that starts at 6pm and ends at 11pm still be too short? We’re not religious so our ceremony will only be 20 minutes and we won’t be doing a cocktail hour. Wow that's a beautiful venue! I would agree and say that 4 hours isn't much time and 7pm is pretty late to start. I think 6pm-11pm is standard for most weddings. If it's within your budget, I would pay the extra!

Looks beautiful!! I also think 4 hours is too short. We paid an extra $1500 to have our ceremony at our venue and during cocktail hour they transform the whole room for the reception which is 4 hours long. I personally would pay the extra $1000 for another hour so that you can enjoy your night as much as possible!!😊

I think an extra hour would be perfect.

Question: does that that four hours include set up and teardown? Because if so that is nowhere near enough time.

Definitely should add an extra hour. If you’re having a cocktail reception before dinner then an extra 2 hours. Usually the wedding reception is 4 hrs itself.

Ours will be from 6:00 to 11:00! I think that's pretty standard. We're Christian but the ceremony should only be 20 minutes. We're transitioning straight into dinner instead of doing cocktail hour. The ceremony and reception are on the same property so it will only be a matter of guests walking a few hundred feet to the reception. We'll do a first look so we don't have to waste time taking photos after the ceremony. I think one extra hour should be fine!

I would have to say that time frame is too short. My venue allows us to have the space for 12 hours. We are starting the ceremony at 4 and concluding everything at 11pm. Music has to be off at 10pm. So dinner will be early so that guests can enjoy dancing most of the night.

That is gorgeous, and while I’ve definitely seen that it’s common for wedding and receptions to be longer, I’m only renting my venue for 4 hours. My ceremony is at 2, and we have the reception venue until 6, although we’ve been told they’re not watching the clock and going to kick us out right on the dot.
