Wedding start time?

Future Mrs. Lowder, on February 10, 2020 at 8:03 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 9
The big discussion recently has been what time we want to hold our wedding. Originally we said 2pm for the ceremony and then reception until around 9pm. But we have now decided we want to hold the wedding earlier to give us more time to get to our hotel and chill before our flights the next day. We’ve been thinking about doing the ceremony at 10/11 and then doing our reception as a lunch. Our wedding is going to be a very casual country wedding. My FMIL has said she thinks we should wait until 11 to do anything to allow for guests to get ready the morning of. Any thoughts/ suggestions?

With a 10am start time you’re probably going to have to start hair and make up at like 4am depending on how many bridesmaids you have

I don’t have any. Our bridal party consists of his cousin (9 y/o) and my cousin (13 y/o), both boys. So it’s just me that has hair and makeup. I’m going to do my own makeup, which will be very minimal. My hair will probably be down and curled with possible braids for the sides.

10 am would really be pushing it. Especially for yourself and your bridal party but even for guests who may need to drive from afar and who would like to get dressed up. I think 11 is more reasonable but still pushing it if you are doing hair and makeup etc.

The majority of our guests live within 30 minutes of the venue and those who don’t have planned to stay in a B&B nearby. The drive shouldn’t be more than 40 minutes tops for everyone 🤞🏻

I would just think that you as the bride especially would have to get up SUPER early for a 10am wedding! We had a noon ceremony, and I got ready relatively quickly for a bride lol... i started my makeup at 9:30 (did my own) and my hair went from like 10-11:30.

I think lunch is fine but I do agree with pp in that you'd have to get up pretty early to set up and prepare. Do you need to do any diy set up? Would you be doing photos after the whole reception?

I think noon or 1pm would be best. It give people time to get up, get ready, go buy anything they forgot or misplaced and eat a light breakfast.
