Wedding stamps- PLEASE help!

Meaghan, on January 31, 2017 at 12:45 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 13

Hey all! I weighed a fully-assembled invitation set earlier in January not realizing stamps were going up- so this was before they went up. The clerk told me I needed 68-cent stamps but I wasn't prepared to purchase them right then and there. Now I am! Am I understanding correctly that 68 cents have gone up to 70 cents now? I need to know ASAP. Just curious if anyone else has purchased these types recently...

The Forever stamps went up so I'd assume they all did.

Just went through this- yes 2 oz stamps are 70cents. Also USPS does not have many good wedding options for stamps this size. I'd check out zazzle or another custom stamp site so you can make it match your invites.

Yeah, just get stamps from the post office. Unless the stamps are, like, 'famous dictators in world history,' nobody will notice or care.

Agreed with JJ. In my house the envelopes get trashed en route from my mailbox. I don't remember a single stamp anyone used and I know some people used custom ones because they told us. Still didn't notice or care. Get whatever the usps has.

Yea my invites were a little over an ounce and square shaped, so I had to get the more expensive stamps. We bought them at the end of December when they were still 68 cents, looking at the USPS website they did go up to 70 cents. I agree with @JJ, just bring them back to the post office and buy whatever stamps they have in stock that are the size you need. The invitation envelopes go in the trash as soon as your guests rip them open, so don't go crazy over trying to find the "perfect" stamps.

Everything went up. My contract package used to cost 2.60 and now it's 2.77.....

Don't make yourself nuts over stamps. Get the postage you need, throw them in the mailbox and forget about it.

200- 100 for invitations, 100 for RSVPs, maybe more like 95 each

I know where @Nonna T is going...even if you needed stamps for 300 invitations, that is only an additional $6.00...I would not put yourself into panic mode over this!

So you are inviting close to 200 guests?

I ask because I see your avatar that your fh is in the Navy. If you would be willing to give me your address, I will send you some stamps. Maybe not all you need but enough to make a dent.

And if you're not comfortable with that, I understand, just wanted to make the offer Smiley smile

eta @Brooke, at first it was but another part of me wants to help her.

Don't forget about the stamps needed for the thank you cards as well. I didn't think about that and I just had my bridal shower and I have to go buy more stamps Smiley sad

We are inviting around 150-175 (I have various figures in my head because some are kids, some are vendors, some are truly what I'd called "courtesy invites"- our elderly relatives who cannot travel, military family and friends who are deployed overseas but want to include them, etc.) I have I think 94-95 actual to mail. So I got 100 70-cent for the actual invite suite and 100 49-cent for the RSVPs. I'll buy Thank You RSVPs later on. I have a shower in a couple weeks and wanted to wait to see how many I'd need before committing to buying 20 at a time. Not even sure how many are coming to the shower because my MOH is hosting.

I'm not at all panicking, just wanted to know before I put an order in. I did put an order in last night. @Nonna, thank you SO much for the offer. I'd rather not post the address though. If I can figure out how to message you on here, I will. Thank you again, WW!
