Wedding shower - Saturday or Sunday?

Danielle, on January 5, 2021 at 10:44 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 28
This is a weird question, but does it matter if you have a wedding shower on a Saturday or a Sunday? I scheduled my wedding shower for a Saturday and my mom said it’s typically on a Sunday. I didn’t think this mattered though

It really doesn't matter. They're typically Sunday afternoons in my experience, but I don't think people will care.

It really doesn't matter. Mine was a Sunday and my sister-in-law's was a Saturday. It was what worked best.

I also have guests flying in for the weekend so a Sunday wouldn’t work out as well as a Saturday

Then there you go. Although typically bridal showers just have local guests aside from maybe grandma if she lives out of state.

I’m sure it doesn’t. People would probably prefer a Saturday if I had to guess.

...I had no idea that there were traditional days for such things. Ours was a Saturday, because that worked best for those involved.

The hostesses, never the bride, pick a day and time that works for them, and they hope, most potential guests. Then see if the bride can make it. When the bride and many friends are in nursing, the hotel business, and stores for work, most work 1 or 2 weekend days, and a shower may be a weekday afternoon or evening. If everyone works M-F, they likely are a weekday evening if kids keep folks busy weekends, or Friday night, Saturday or Sunday.
A generation ago things were different. But almost all single and married women work, unless they have multiple kids at home, so any day that the hostesses set, works. My hostesses gave me a choice of 3 Mondays, one a holiday, in Boston, and others Sunday evening or Friday night in N NH.
Follow their lead. You are guest of honor, but they decide date, nature and location of shower, and max number they can host. And sometime the venue is part of choosing the date.

Either is fine, there's no rule on which day it is!

I know what she’s saying it used to typically be a Sunday but nowadays it’s different, I have people flying in for the weekend and driving in from a few hours away... having it be a Sunday would be really inconvenient

It does not matter. Whatever works best for you and your guests. Ours were on Saturdays.
