Wedding Shoes

Brittney, on February 14, 2021 at 11:06 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17
I’m doing my first search for wedding shoes to get some ideas of where to eventually buy from. I need a low heel and am most comfortable with a block heel, as I’ve never worn any other kind of heel. My ceremony is also outdoors, so a stiletto would be a no go anyway. As I’m searching I’m beginning to wonder if I should even buy bridal heels. My search is very limited because of the heel height and type. I was looking for a nicely beaded shoe, or one with some type of sparkle. But does anyone actually see the shoe? I’m changing out into cute bedazzled sneakers for the reception for comforts sake, so should I skip the heel all together? Do the shoes show up in pictures?

Try local stores such as Ross, Burlington, DSW, Famous Footwear. Also zappos.com

Make sure that your heels and sneakers are the same height and the dress is altered accordingly. As soon as you change out of the heels, the dress will drag otherwise causing you to trip.

Likely no one will see your shoes, but photographers like to use them in your getting ready pictures. Heels in the pictures would be more formal while sneakers are more unique, so that's completely up to you. I would just do whatever is most comfortable to you and fits your look. As Michelle mentioned, make sure to bring both to your alterations appointment

If your gown is floor length, then keep in mind it’s going to be hemmed according to the shoes you’re wearing. That means if you wear, for example, 2 inch heels for the ceremony and then flat trainers for the reception, your gown will either be too long for the reception or two inches off the floor for the ceremony. Unless you want to show off your shoes during the ceremony, I’d either wear the sneakers all the way through or match the height of the ceremony shoes to them.

Badgley Mischka has a ton of block heeled bridal shoes. They usually have a stiletto, tall block heel, short block heel and flat version of all there shoes.

A lot of the dyeable shoes have a useful trait: they are not made to take a lot of wear, so they are rather soft and comfortable. Leave them plain white or ivory, or go cobalt blue. people are not looking at your shoes unless you are in a shirt gown. Most women can do either a 1.5 or 2.5 block heel even if they rarely wear them. But choose one where the back of the shoe goes high, and you will not blister in the back of the heel. Now that I wear heels less, I have no callous there, and though all dye to match are pretty similar, there are low cost choices. Best for me, I wear them 20 times in a year, only want light or silver in summer.

Are the sneakers platform or just regular?

I’m wearing tennis shoes for the whole thing- going for comfort! Plus I don’t want to worry about changing. I I bought some Nikes from Penney’s & some satin laces from Amazon to dress them up. I have some heals for pics only (wearing them the night of the rehearsal dinner).

Lulus has a lot of block heels are various heel lengths. I got my shoes there as I wanted simple heels. They have white and beige satin.

If you're wearing a gown then no one will see your shoes. I would go with something you're comfortable with.

I got a pair of nude, low block heel sandals from Coach (on sale!) and glittery Kate Spade Keds (also on sale!) to change into. I agree that people won't really see my shoes and I can totally wear them both again in the future!

I ordered these from Amazon! They have them in gold and silver sparkle as well, but I purchased them in white and bought a cute pearl and rhinestone trim to add across the strap of the shoe. I can link you if you’re interested! Heel is about 2 inches and they are very comfortable Wedding Shoes 1

I decided to go with a wedge! I like a flat surface, and I'm getting married in a garden, so I don't want to sink into the grass! I got mine (picture below) from David's Bridal for under $20! Might be worth looking into. They have tons of styles!

I personally don't see the point in dumping a ton of money on specialty bridal shoes you are unlikely to ever wear again, especially if you have a floor length gown. If you have a shorter dress and your heels will be visible, then I think it makes sense to be more particular about footwear, but if your dress is hemmed correctly the shoes won't be visible in 99% of your photos. I got a pair of low nude patent block heels to wear with my dress and they were comfortable, easy to walk in, and looked fine in the few photos where you can see them (you can't see them at all when I am just standing, but you can see them in walking photos). They cost less than $30 and I'll be able to use them again a bunch will all different outfits after our wedding.

No, they don't see your shoes aside from getting ready photos and closeup shots from the photographer. I really like a pair of off-white block heels I got from Lulu's last year so those are my backups in case I can't find anything else. https://www.lulus.com/products/taylor-off-white-ankle-strap-heels/1057982.html Wedding Shoes 5

Currently on the hunt for good dark blue block heels. If I can't find ones I like then I am happy to wear the white ones I already own.

I'm doing tennis shoes the entire time. I ordered a pair from David's Bridal and then ordered ribbon laces off of Amazon to dress them up. I'm all about the comfort!
