Is there a proper way to ask for gift cards to a store that doesn't have a registry? For example, Kirkland's or another home store?

No. Asking for money is extremely rude.

There are plenty of home goods stores that DO have registries. My go-to if I can't decide on a registry item is to buy a gift card from the store they're registered at. You will almost certainly get gift cards and money regardless. Don't ask.

Is an Amazon registry an option for you? I'm sure you could find whatever you're looking for there.

I've seen it done with "funds" on sites like Zola. You can ask for specific items, and also set up funds for your honeymoon, or whatever you want. A friend of mine did an "adventure fund" because he and his fiancé like to travel. The key is to make it feel personal and make it feel like people are contributing to something specific, but really, you still get cash at the end.

@Carolyn that is horrible advice. If you can't afford your own vacation, you certainly don't ask others to "fund" it for you.

Please dont do what Carolyn suggested. Asking for money in any form is rude!

@Carolyn that is deceitful and RUDE! Why would you want to trick your guests like that?

Carolyn- people will give you money if they want to. Adults don't need to be told that cash is accepted. Also, trying to deceive your guests is disgusting.

Jennifer, as BoudreautoBe said, it is very rude to ask for money. And I must commend you for your reaction! You seem like you actually want advice, not validation. Well done!

I do have other a couple places that I registered at. I just wanted to see if that was an option. It seems that the majority finds it to be rude, so I will definitely avoid that.

If you really were hoping to get gift cards for Kirklands or stores like it, you could always have a very small registry. Guests will take the hint and give you cash!
