    Z&k, great question and topic! I did a quick search and the best one I found is:

    I hope someone with more experience than me will respond.

    Thanks for the above site...I hope so too,because all the lists I've seen have like bar/entertaining items...I would be 'entertained' if someone gave us towels or a simple vacuum (o;

    I just had my bridal shower and let me tell you, I didn't need to register for a household of items. We are grown and combined two households but I was told gift card requests were tacky somehow. Whatever? One of my absolute greatest gifts that I am enjoying immediately are the new sheets and comforter sets I received from my mom and one of my dearest longest friends. Don't get me wrong. Each item was appreciated, but please do register for the things you really need. Keep you list open to lower priced items as well as items that are on the more expensive side. Pick one item per intended guest at least. You may not get all items but you will get enough to help. Do yourself a HUGE favor and make sure your MOH KNOWS WHERE YOU ARE REGISTERED!!!! Some of us unlucky girls had an MOH that just pulled stores out of the air! Not good. Get your linens, curtains, dishes, silverware, kitchen towels, storage items for bedroom and kitchen and bath. Complete bath towels and assessories

    You really need to think about hte things you need and keep yourself open to the whole thing. Lamps, kitchen small appliances, laundry care and the like are all very necessary. If you are starting with nothing register for those things you know you need. I don't need china. I have never needed china. I don't need to store decorative dishes in my house, apartment or what have you. If you are more formal or intend to be in later years, then by all means register for those pieces. It is actually a pretty fun part.

    I think it's a good idea to go to the stores and just look at items and make yourself a list, and as previous poster mentioned put items that are cheaper to the more expensive items. I just got thru looking at a wedding registry of a shower i'm invited too and it is quite rediculous- not sure if the bride to be is thinking future family is rich but it was amazing how many gifts were on the registry that were over $100. There were very few items that were priced $20-40 and there was one place setting of china that was like $150 and only one set requested- I was thinking, is she going to be eatting by herself on this china? I love how BBB, Target, and Walmart registries I can play with as much as I want (online at home). If I see someone purchase an item on one registry, I delete it from the other registries. I like to browse thru items too, and i've added stuff to the registries that I didn't notice in the stores or think about. Some of the websites of the stores have a section

    With the top bridal picks. BBB and Walmart both have this and I added a few of those items to my registries. Someone told my mom, well she already has a house so she shouldn't need anything-this kinda offends me......just because i'm not the typical bride and found my groom in my 30s doesn't mean that I shouldn't have a shower like all my other cousins and every other relative has. My parents gave to them, and I get invitations for relatives and give always. Towels get holes in them and sheets eventually can wear out, or you might want a new color or new bedspread. Sometimes things just need replacing.

    I'd register at a place like Target. Just walk down all the aisles and see what you need. Plates, silverware, towels, a blender, etc. You know what you have and what you need.

    And I rather get a coupel something they can truly use, like a vaccuum then a crystal candle holder that will sit empty in a cupboard.

    I recoomend a few decorative items to- sicne people love to get you candle holders, and picture frames and a huge wall clock, etc.

    I found the most helpful list of all is the list they give you when they give you the scanner at Bed Bath and Beyond..

    Since we have pushed the wedding date back and going house hunting starting in Nov.. then we are thinking we're just going to register for a honeymoon fund or something since we'll have most the items we need for the house. Thats still up in the air.
