Wedding registry and dinner plates

futurelagrange, on March 24, 2017 at 6:08 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 7

Were starting to work on our registry, and I wasn't sure on a few things. First, between amazon and bed bath and beyond, should I go back through and find out what is cheaper at which place and register for it there? Or find the best deal on amazon with price as well as shipping? Part of me says yes, to do this, the other part says guests will most likely do it anyways, because who's not ever looking out for a better deal. My next question is with plates. I cannot wait to replace the patchwork set I currently have in my kitchen. That being said, I have no idea what the normal amount of plates there are for a family of 3. How many should i register for?

Where you register is up to you; I did BBB, Crater & Barrel, and Wayfair. I'm a deal shopper too, but not a fan of Amazon at all, so if I were you I'd do both. As for plates, typically you register for 12 place settings. You'll have guests over at some point, so you want to have a good amount.

Thanks! That seems like a good amount, although I'm not sure how many guests we'll be having over. I think the last time someone other than me, FH, and his daughter were at our house was a good 3+ months ago.

Register with a consultant at Bed Bath and Beyond--they are great and can answer all of your questions like this including price, quality, and quantity.

We registered at Target and Bed Bath and Beyond. I like Amazon but not so much for household items. I actually found a nice set of fancier plates at BBB for like 30 dollars for a set of 12. Twelve is normal but I always get one extra set because things break, and also FH is clumsy lol. Also a consultant is a wonderful idea @TheBrideSmiley smile

If guests order off of your registry at BB&B it should be free shipping and can be shipped directly to you, so no one has to worry about forgetting their gift the day of, and you don't have to worry about transporting it back home! Most everything also includes complimentary gift wrap and message as well. Some people were concerned about not bringing anything as a gift to the wedding if they decided to ship the gift so we'd recommend they buy a card to take with them, that way they didn't feel empty-handed. Definitely talk to a bridal consultant! They'll work with you on your likes/dislikes, what you should register for/how many, and be able to answer any questions you have. I might a little biased because I worked there for 3 years haha There's no problem doing both! I even printed off registries from Amazon, Target, and Kohls so guests could see everything that was registered, not just at BB&B. Our job wasn't only to help the couples registering but also their guests when they came in.

It's only the two of us now, but we registered for 16 place settings. I figure in the future we may host holidays. We did 16 BC my mom has that now and is still short (we have extended family for each holiday so we're closer to 20 adults and kids) but also because CRate and Barrel had sets of 8 for less than each plate/bowl individually.

Totally registered for the bigger items at BBB though. Retail prices at BBB were the same as CB before the 20% (kitchenaid, knives, coffee pot etc).
