Wedding planning is at a halt

Sara, on October 26, 2019 at 8:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 10
So for the next 4 months I can't do much wedding planning.... we are 7 months out. So on tuesday I had to have emergency surgery, I had a torn labrum and a bone spur on my left hip. I knew it would be more than a 6 weeks recovery, so I had planned for that. But then there was a complication. When they went to take out my breathing tube, my larynx spasmed and I stopped breathing. This caused fluid to build on my lungs and it was a very bad scare for everyone involved. I was put on 10 liters of oxygen for 72 hours. The anesthesiologist said he had only seen this happen once before in 30 years. Now I have to recover from 2 things. So now everything in my life is on hold until I get back on my feet, and they're telling me itll be no less than 4 months. My fiancé has been absolutely amazing through all of this. Trying his best to take over the planning for me and putting my mind at ease. Going through a health issue scare like this before marriage just shows me how strong of a relationship we truly have. I'm so grateful for him. Have any of you ladies had to put wedding planning on hold for something similar? How did you keep calm and get everything done? Or if any one just has any advice to keep me busy while I'm stuck on the couch 😭 I dont want to sound like a giant baby but this isnt what I was expecting and I'm so disappointed and discouraged.

I am so sorry you have to deal with this. But the main thing is that your okay 😊 As for recommendations on keeping busy and such, maybe you could still look at wedding magazines or pinterest for ideas for the wedding with decorations and such. If you haven’t found your dress yet maybe look at dress styles you like. Or if you want to be just a “normal” person and not a wedding planning person (lol) maybe read a regular book or put a puzzle together. If you like crafts maybe make a scrapbook? 😊 hope these ideas help you!

Thankfully we need only small amounts of things done besides the wedding cake, which I'm definitely freaking out about. I love puzzles but sadly I cant sit at a table long enough to put one together, i have a full hip brace Smiley sad maybe I'll download an app on my tablet. I've been doing a lot of reading but my mind always goes back to everything I'm not doing right now that i need to! Thanks for some advice!

Omg thank God you’re okay! Everything depends on how far you’re into wedding planning, I found most things online and your FH could help you with anything else if you need to see someone in person. This can give you a good time to plan. Netflix is the only thing that could help me to distract myself or maybe a video game

Don't freak out, make a list of things that need to get done, and tackle one problem at a time.

    For example, the cake:

    1. Research vendors on your tablet.

    2. Narrow down to 2-3 top choices.

    3. Contact them and tell them what is going on an ask about your options. Have a phone call with them and express what you like. See if they can do "To-Go" tastings. Then, they can send home a box for tasting (assuming your FH could pick it up).

You can do this! You might just need to get creative!

The cake tasting is a great idea! Fortunately my sister is working at the bakery we want to go with so she is bring us some samples and we can do a formal tasting to if we like. Were fortunate enough that I love planning so far ahead but there are things that need to be done in person, like the food tasting at the venue which was supposed to be in November but I'm unsure if I can now. Or getting my dress altered. It weighs heavily on my mind but the cake part really helped me thank you!

Wow! You’re such a rockstar for pushing through this challenging time. I’m so happy your FH has been so supportive too! That is great.

I would recommend not not being afraid to ask for help! Maybe you can get your FH, MOH, and/ or some of your bridesmaids to help you with things you just can’t do. You can still do as much as you can online too!

Sending you healing vibes girl! 💞

My moh is states away from me sadly!! And shes my only bridesmaid. Fmil and ffil have been just as great in helping me, making sure things get paid on time because FH is not the best in remembering when to pay certain vendors haha. Thank you for the good vibes! Hopefully physical therapy will get me back on my feet sooner, fingers crossed
