Curious if anyone has dealt with this before, or has any advice!
My dream beach Wedding Venue uses a mandatory wedding planner, and we are just NOT clicking.
I am not the most traditional bride, and am specifically having a destination wedding because I hate the idea of spending a whole bunch of money on one day (& so my compromise is spending a bunch of money on one week! LOL).
It's been really frustrating so far - the planner didn't reply to my first couple enquires for 3 weeks. Then told me they go on Vacation during almost my entire wedding date window (all of July and most of Aug) so we had to adjust our desired wedding date already. Then, she sent in her 1st quotation before having any consult with me at all - and it came in almost double my actual budget.. like, kay, not sure what to do with that?
When I asked if a wedding at this venue is possible in my budget range, she replied that it's probably not unless we cut our guest list - and then scheduled a Teams meeting to actually discuss what I want for the 1st time, and THEN cancelled and rescheduled that same teams mtg 1 hr before.
I feel like I'm being cornered into a specific wedding package that I don't even want and have no choice about anything, because I HAVE to work with this one planner if I want my wedding at the venue! If I'm going to be paying 20% of my whole budget to a wedding planner, shouldn't they at least cause me less stress instead of more?!
With my meeting with her coming up (hopefully), let me know if you have any advice (or if it's time to just settle for a different venue that I love less).
