Dedicated December 2023

Wedding Perfectionist?????

Hey guys. A little vent here. I am getting married on a very small budget. Were thinking like $4,000 max for everything. My fiance and I are planning on eloping to texas where we plan on settling down in Montgomery after our honeymoon. I chose the "Little Chapel in The Woods" as our wedding venue. I really wanted snow for my wedding but they told me it hasnt snowed for the last 2 years in Denton TX. The chapel is like $850 for the weekday. Has anyone gotten married there and can tell me if its worth it? My fiance and I might start looking at other places in different states to have the wedding only. If anyone knows any chapels under $900 where it snows in any state please let me know! Im not getting married until December 2023, so I have a little but of time, but I am still so stressed out about it. ☹️

If you are getting married in December, there is a good chance for snow in the Midwest and Northeastern states

If you're wanting snow in December you're best off looking in the northern midwest to east. I'm in Kansas/Missouri and I think the last time it snowed in December was 2017

I agree with Caitlin. Most states don't start getting regular snow until Jan/Feb. So if you want it reliably in December, you'd probably have to go pretty north, like Minnesota or something up in the northeast. Or maybe somewhere elevated in Colorado or so, but that might be tricky to get to. And I'd make sure to do a lot of research before booking anything, to make sure they usually get snow around your date.

I live in the North Texas area, and unfortunately, you won't get the snow you're looking for. In December, you'll mainly get ice and wintry-mix, if anything. Always enough to shut down the DFW area though!

Be careful wishing for snow in December in Texas. It doesn't happen often and since the state is not really equipped for snow a lot of places completely close down for the smallest bit of snow. Vermont is beautiful in December you can also try parts of Pennslyvania or Upstate NY. Best of luck to you!

I agree with PPs. You're going to want to look further north (and possibly east) for venues if you want snow. The last two Christmases (we're now in the St. Louis area) it's been in the 60s!

If you want winter snow, I’d look into states like Illinois, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and so on… they almost always have snow in the winter.
If you can’t fit those into the budget, I highly recommend an elopement at a city hall or courthouse. It is SUPER budget friendly and honestly, way underrated. Our was wonderful and I will always recommend it to orhers

We've only been here a couple of years, but I'd agree with the pps who've said that snow in TX seems to just shut everything down. Because it's so rare, the state/local governments/businesses just close everything since they don't have the necessary equipment to keep the roads/airports/etc. open. My husband is from Chicago and just shakes his head and laughs when a dusting of snow (or, more often ice) in TX is treated like a national emergency. If you truly want snow for your wedding, do yourself a favor and look at places that know how to handle snow -- like the northeastern US and the upper Midwest, or maybe the the Sierra Nevada region in the west (a snow resort like Mammoth or Tahoe is going to know how to deal with snow, but that is also prime/expensive season). However, realize that even in places with regular winter snow, in a heavy winter storm, things will close down and travel can become difficult if not impossible. Good luck!

You’re welcome! I’ve been living in Maryland/Virginia/DC area and we’ve even had several feet of snow consistently the last few years
