Wedding Party Standing Positions

Private User, on October 3, 2014 at 4:40 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15

I need some advice on how my wedding party should be positioned. I have two maid of honors and want them to feel as equal as possible. I was wondering if anyone has every done a non-tradition or atypical positioning of their wedding party for their wedding. Especially interested in if anyone has had two maid of honors (matron of honor). I included a picture of what I came up with. Any advice is much appreciated.

Personally, I think the formation laid out in that image would look really nice (though I've seen versions that have the RB next to the best man - often cause they're related though)

I think that is a good layout.

Wow you put a lot of thought into actually creating a diagram for it...

Nice diagram. I have 2 MOH as well and I'm thinking of doing something very similar.

I like this. I may have 2 MOH's too so this is a great visual!

I agree, I think the formation you have laid out would work best. I would just explain to your two MOHs how you chose which one of them stands next to you...that's the only downside I could see to this.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do to make it appear that one or the other isn't closer to me? It's causing unnecessary stress and drama with who stands where.

They're actually fighting over this? I'm sorry but I would be at my limit of accommodation. They're grownups...if they get their validation by who stands closer to you regarding who is a better friend, then they need to grow up lol.

I think you've done a great job. Tell them to work it out.

    That looks fine to me.

It may seem important, but the layout really doesn't matter that much. The ceremony goes by so quickly that noone really notices or cares how everyone is lined up.

One MOH can hold your bouquet and the other can straighten your train. One can sign license as a witness, other can make a toast at reception.

We have 2 moh's, but 2 brides. One moh is going to stand by me, the other on the other side of FW. No best-man or groomsmen. I know this isn't helpful to you at all, but figure I'd add it.

ETA: If you want it to look more even you could put the ring-bearer next to the best-man.

I like NancyT's suggestion. If they're making a big deal out of everything, assign them each certain tasks.

It looks to me that if the BMs and GMs are standing in the front like that they might block the view of your guests in the audience? I wouldn't worry about which MOH stands closest to you. Hell, have then pick a number or something.

I had two tonight. They wore different color dresses than everyone else on the bride's side, but they stood next to her. The also both signed the license.

This morning, i had a Best Woman......It's been an unconventional weekend, lol!
