Since everything is happening so soon we can’t really afford certain things we want...like a photographer.
Is there any advice to make this happen on a budget?

I'd go with someone who is a student if your really have a low budget for photography. My son/dil bought a camera for a friend, and she took the photos. They did end up with some really nice photos. Make sure someone like this is taking multiple photos of each shot, to more likely get something decent.

I would caution against the disposable cameras on the tables. They cost an awful lot to get developed, and you'll get maybe 1-2 good shots from each one. These days, everyone has their cell phones, and with any luck, some guests will have decent cameras, too. Spread by word of mouth that you encourage picture taking, and use a hashtag to share all the photos.

To keep on budget, we booked our photographer for just a few hours. We'll have a shorter reception anyway, but we have opted out of the full day coverage, getting ready, first look stuff. So we will have fewer, high quality pictures.

I agree with this - I had my younger child's HS grad pictures done by a student - they were really good!!!

Many high school Art teachers moonlight as photographers as well. Call and ask!
